Our Heritage
You don't become the ultimate destination for drivers or industry professionals overnight. You do it through years and years of setting standards and challenging conventions.
Of carrying out remarkable engineering feats and creating ingenious designs. Of establishing an environment that supports the people who work for you, and makes the most of their talents.
Ever since Jaguar was born in 1935 and Land Rover in 1948, our two brands have defined and redefined what is possible. From the fade-free brakes that enabled the Jaguar C-types and D-types to triumph five times at Le Mans in the 1950s, to the radical combination of strength and comfort in the form of the first Range Rover in 1970, to the daring low carbon Evoque that we'll release in 2011, we've made our name building vehicles others could only dream of. And ensuring they're a dream to drive.
In fact, the Range Rover Evoque is a perfect example of our continuing desire to push boundaries. First unveiled at the 40th anniversary celebrations for Range Rover in 2010, it is now in regular production. It will be the smallest, lightest and most fuel efficient Range Rover ever, while maintaining this iconic brand's reputation for luxury and premium quality. Available in both 4WD and 2WD, its sporting looks and unique qualities will attract new customers worldwide - increasing market share, and taking the growing Land Rover business into previously untapped segments.
Another very special anniversary in 2010 also allowed us the opportunity to celebrate our unique history, while simultaneously welcoming in a ground-breaking modern vehicle. Jaguar marked 75 years of style and speed by producing a stunning electric range-extended supercar concept at the Paris Motor Show - the C-X75. Designed as a 21st century tribute to the iconic beauty, pioneering performance and engineering excellence Jaguar has displayed throughout its 75 years, the C-X75 received worldwide acclaim. So intense was the excitement elicited by the C-X75 that we've decided to transform this concept car into a showroom reality. In a world that values sustainability as well as beautiful design and high performance, we'll continue to innovate and lead the way.
