The Application Process

The online application form is your chance to show us what you’ve got, as only the strongest candidates will make it through to the next stages of the process. We need our apprentices to be resilient, responsible and motivated by hands-on engineering work, so it’s important to get this across in your application. We also look for willingness to learn, strong problem solving skills and the ability to work well with others – so take the time to think about your past experiences and relate them to the skills and attributes we are looking for.

Once we receive your online application, we’ll go through it carefully, and you can expect to hear from us shortly afterwards. The very latest you’ll hear from us will be mid-April, after the application process has closed.

If you are successful, you’ll need to complete some initial maths and literacy tests, while we verify your qualifications and proof of right to work in the UK.

The next stage is more detailed testing, followed by an invitation to an assessment centre during July for successful candidates. The assessment centre includes an interview, some practical tasks and a group exercise and gives you the chance to shine in a variety of contexts.

We’ll make formal offers soon afterwards and, if you are successful, you will start your journey with us in September 2012.

Please Note: You may only submit 1 Application, either to the Advanced Apprenticeship Programme or the Higher Apprenticeship Programme. Please consider this carefully when applying.
