My name is Adam Henderson. I'm a graduate for Jaguar Land Rover, currently working in Gaydon as the National Dealer Marketing Manager. I joined Jaguar Land Rover in September 2008. In my role, I do all of the marketing at the dealer level for the whole of Jaguar UK - so pretty much anything you see with a Jaguar in it and the dealer's name, is down to me and my team to deliver.
I've always had a passion for cars and the motor industry, so being able to work day in, day out, with one of my passions and things I love to do, was something that attracted me to come and work here.
I found a place to live once upon starting to work for Jaguar Land Rover via Facebook. I just joined with all the other new starters and we all met up in Leamington and found a place to live from there. I have several flat mates. I currently live with three other Jaguar Land Rover graduates from different parts of the business. Sometimes it means you take work home, but it's a great social life and a great atmosphere to live in.
There's not really a typical day for me. One minute I can be out and about in the UK in the car; I can be on the train down to London seeing agencies, I can be out at a dealership, or I can be at my agency talking to them down in Swindon. It really much depends on the business need at the time. I love it because it means you're always on the go and it keeps me interested.
My biggest challenge at Jaguar Land Rover has been the management of a new team. I have an agency of 18 people that I directly have to manage to provide all of the marketing material for the dealer network. One of the products I have worked on recently was a Graduate wide initiative called 'Green Power'.
The idea was to design and market an electric powered vehicle - and we were really pushing the notion of sustainable engineering. The idea was that we all worked together to create this car and included the message of developing future Engineers and attracting them to Jaguar Land Rover.
My biggest achievement so far at Jaguar Land Rover was creating a little bit of Jaguar's history through the development of a new 'R' brochure, which focused on our highest performance vehicles. I worked with a team to develop that from creation to the final product.
Working for Jaguar Land Rover has taught me that you should really take every opportunity that comes available to you. Just work as hard as you can in order to get the most out of what you do. I see myself developing at Jaguar Land Rover by continuing to work hard, developing my career, and really driving the business forward in sustainability, and continuing to be one of the market leaders in the automotive industry.
For other graduates looking to apply to Jaguar Land Rover, I would say; if you are looking to work hard, you've got a passion for cars - then this is the place for you. It will really allow you the opportunity to develop yourself and your career going forward.
Jaguar Land Rover is the ultimate destination for a Graduate career, because it gives you the flexibility, and the framework, in order to develop yourself in your career going forward.

“I do all of the marketing at the dealer level, for the whole of Jaguar UK. So, anything you see with a Jaguar in it and the dealer’s name is down to me and my team of 18 to deliver. Achievements
“I think my biggest achievement so far is getting my job. It’s a massive company. It’s a globally recognised brand. I don’t think I could be in any better company at this moment in time – the things that the job enables me to do is just absolutely mind blowing.”
Friendly
“If you’re thinking of applying, you really need to love problem solving, like working in teams and be good at communication. The working environment here is really fast paced, but everyone’s really, really helpful.”
Development
“Within the next two years I hope to become Chartered with IMechE and finish the MSc that I started when I joined. In the long term, I’ll develop into a management grade or become a technical specialist. If you work hard you will get spotted and rewarded.”
Responsibility
“From day one I’ve had a lot of responsibility, and have worked hard to earn the respect of those around me. I’ve enjoyed the challenge and it’s really helped me to learn and grow as a professional.”
Variety
“There is no such thing as a typical day at Jaguar Land Rover. We move between roles within HR regularly, so we’re able to see different aspects of the business and gain different skills. I see myself working in a number of other areas of the business, but then looking to move into something senior before too long.”
Social
“I used the Jaguar Land Rover Facebook site to find other Graduates to live with. It’s worked out really well - there are always other people around to go out with. There’s also the Graduates Association who will organise events and trips out for us.”
Opportunities
“Jaguar Land Rover is really supportive. I’ve been able to benefit from lots of extra opportunities which fall outside of my work role. I’ve got involved in the Green Power Project, Imagineering and Smallpiece, which has really added to my experience on the graduate scheme.”
Development
“My development at Jaguar Land Rover will be broad and extensive. I will rotate through three different roles on the Graduate Scheme over three years. The Graduate Scheme should open a lot of doors here.”
Global
“Working for the Asia Pacific Marketing Sales and Services division, one of the highlights of my role is the travel. I’ve already been to Shanghai, China. There are also opportunities to visit Japan, India, Korea and Australia.”
Successful
“Working for Jaguar Land Rover, I’ve learnt that your career is what you make it. You need to be really creative and have the confidence to make informed decisions. If you’re passionate about the products that you sell, then you will succeed.”
