Become an Apprentice at Jaguar Land Rover and you’ll learn from the best. You’ll work on projects that have a real impact on our global success. You’ll also be rewarded as you develop your skills and start on the road to building an impressive career.

Whether you join us as an Advanced or Higher Apprentice depends on your education level. The Advanced Scheme is designed for those who have completed GCSEs or achieved 60+ credits at BTEC Level 3, and runs for three to four years. The Higher Scheme runs for six years, and is appropriate for those who have completed A-Levels or have 90+ credits at BTEC Level 3.

  • Advanced Apprenticeship Scheme

    • OUR ADVANCED APPRENTICE PATHWAYS
      • As an Advanced Apprentice, you’ll have the opportunity to make your mark in pathways such as:
        • Automotive
Working at the forefront of vehicle technology, you’ll support test developments to existing models or help build entirely new experimental concepts. You’ll develop the flexibility to work with mechanical and electrical components, and we’ll also teach you a range of traditional hand fitting and machining skills.
        • Maintenance
Keeping our manufacturing operation running smoothly is vital to our success, so you’ll carry out preventative maintenance, diagnose and fix faults on complex machinery and equipment. We’ll also help you develop the ability to use problem-solving skills on robots, logistics, process systems and electrical and mechanical components.
        • Manufacturing Support
In this area, you’ll work to improve our manufacturing techniques and processes, helping us to deliver the highest quality end products to our customers. You’ll gain knowledge of all our vehicle and production techniques, reporting on assembly solutions, standardisation, quality and economic best practice.
        • Tool Room/Model factory
Combining traditional manual skills with the latest technology, you’ll help maintain or develop some of our most innovative products. You’ll cover a range of skilled disciplines, all of which are essential to the development of new and existing models. Some of these will be traditional hands-on skills, others will be at the forefront of the latest technology.
    • WHAT TO EXPECT
      • Join us as an Advanced Apprentice and you’ll start at college. Here, you’ll learn the engineering basics you’ll need in your role with us.  Then it’s on to real hands-on experience at one of our manufacturing plants or vehicle workshops working alongside members of our skilled workforce. During your second year, you’ll continue your studies at college on a day-release basis.
    • WHERE IT WILL TAKE YOU
      • Together with invaluable commercial and professional experience, you’ll also gain a number of academic and vocational qualifications, including:
        • NVQ2 in Performing Engineering Operations
        • NVQ3 in the appropriate trade pathway for your role
        • A technical certificate
    • REWARDS & RECOGNITION
      • As an Advanced Apprentice, your starting wage will be £210 a week, increasing every six months provided you continue to perform well. Upon completion of the scheme, you can expect to be earning over £400 per week.
We’ll also pay your tuition and course fees, and offer you all the support and mentoring you need. A generous holiday allowance will be part of your package, and as many of our facilities have their own gyms and sports halls, you’ll have plenty of opportunities for play at the end of the working day.
    • WHAT YOU’LL NEED
      • To apply for the Advanced Apprenticeship Scheme, you’ll need 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, including Maths and English, plus a Science, Technology or Engineering related subject – or a BTEC level 3 (60 credits +) or equivalent in a relevant Engineering or Technology discipline.
  • Higher Apprenticeship Scheme

    • OUR HIGHER APPRENTICESHIP PATHWAYS
      • Join us as a Higher Apprentice, and you’ll start influencing our success in pathways across our business, including:
        • Production Supervision
Growing your practical engineering knowledge and developing your supervisory skills to ensure your team deliver high quality products, you’ll be working in a fast-paced and cost-conscious manufacturing environment.
        • Finance
Business acumen is key to this area, and you’ll develop a core understanding of engineering in addition to a range of financial and analytical skills. These will be put to use in our Engineering Cost Estimation department. You’ll also be exposed to several other business functions as part of your development.
        • Purchasing
You’ll solve supplier technical issues in our manufacturing sites while developing your overall technical knowledge. You’ll also visit suppliers to help them grow their lean manufacturing techniques and quality approach.
        • Design
Here you’ll build on our iconic designs or breathe life into new ones. You’ll do this in one of three ways; by translating 2D concepts into 3D products, developing concepts and data into digital or clay models, or turning geometrical data into exciting new vehicles.
        • Product Development
In this area, you’ll apply your engineering skills in one of two key areas. You may work with Vehicle Calibration carrying out performance data tests to support our vehicle development programmes. Alternatively, you might work in Computer Aided Design where you’ll learn forming and machining techniques prior to blending Computer Aided Engineering and Modelling to generate vehicle geometry.
        • Manufacturing Engineering
In this role, you’ll be pivotal to the launch planning and smooth delivery of exciting new products. Your studies will help you focus on the advanced manufacturing techniques and project management skills required to launch our products on time.
    • WHAT TO EXPECT
      • As a Higher Apprentice, you’ll spend your first year at college, learning the fundamentals of engineering. You’ll then be ready to get hands-on, gaining real experience in one of our expert teams. During your second year working with us, you’ll continue your studies at college on a day-release basis.  In later years, you’ll attend the University of Warwick on a block-release basis.
