WHAT TO EXPECT 

 

We are looking for EDU Transmission Components Design & Release Engineer to join our engineering powertrain – Rotating Machines department to supports the design, development, testing and introduction of rotating components within the electric drive unit transmission sub-system, including gears, shafts and differential.  

 

As an EDU Transmission Components Design & Release Engineer, you will not only be responsible for engineering the technical substance and integrity of the transmission across internal Electric Drive Unit Programmes, but you will also collaborate with suppliers and JLR production facilities to deliver the component commodity plan to quality, cost, and schedule. 

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities 

  • Generation of concepts and detailed design. 

  • Calculations and tolerance stacks supporting detailed design. 

  • Generating / assessing models and drawings, and associated drawing checks 

  • Alignment with manufacturing team on design for manufacture and manufacturing process 

  • Definition of and support of physical rig tests including test rig arrangements and operating conditions, in conjunction with the Development Team. 

  • Co-ordinate tear-down inspection and review of all test reports. 

  • Documentation of Engineering Sign-off Status. 

  • Development and appraisal of tier 1 supplier proposals 

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED 

 

  • Good technical understanding of transmission sub-system / component design and operating principles. 

  • Experience generating 3D component models and assemblies and 2D drawings in CAD. 

  • Experience resolving business, technical and process issues within a Project Team environment, with internal and external stakeholders, including with Tier 1 suppliers. 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including presentations and reporting.
