VICTOR, CONTROLS AND CALIBRATION ENGINEER

Manufacturing Higher Apprenticeship Programme

When it comes to the future, our Manufacturing Engineering team’s already working on it. We ensure that our iconic brands continue to captivate the world tomorrow. Regularly working several years ahead of production, we plan, implement and translate Product Development outputs into vehicle manufacture, transforming our ambitious plans into tangible and exhilarating realities.

We provide equipment, facilities and processes for the production of the next generation of Jaguar Land Rover vehicles and, as such, the very future of our organisation. Our four-year Manufacturing Engineering Higher (Technician) Apprenticeship now has three potential pathways - each will see you become a world-class technician with finely-tuned technical and analytical skills.

As well as gaining a broad range of technical and professional experience, you’ll gain academic and vocational qualifications. You will attend Make UK, one of our lead training providers, and study for a Level 4 Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Engineering and a separate practical foundation skills programme. While in the plant, you’ll follow a specialist training development programme relevant to your role. This programme will also be supported by Make UK and will help you to prepare for your apprenticeship End Point Assessment. Join us on the exciting programme and you’ll go to work in one of three areas.

Pathways

Robot Programmer

Duration: 4 years

We’re responsible for programming and commissioning industrial robots for all types of vehicle production. The Robot Programmer is responsible for engaging with functional teams across the business to enable the understanding of how the robot needs to operate, and interpreting this into a logical efficient program.

What you'll need

To be eligible for our Higher Apprenticeship programme you will need to demonstrate a passion for Manufacturing and strong motivation for the role. You will also need to meet our academic entry criteria:

  • Maths and English Language GCSE level 4 (C) or above.
  • In addition you will need three additional GCSE’s including a STEM subject at level 4 (C) or above, or as an alternative to the additional three GCSEs an Engineering Vocational qualification level 3 of 90 credit value (540 GLH).
  • You’ll also need A Level Maths at C Grade or above

If you do not have, or are not studying for, A levels but you believe that your qualifications are equivalent please contact us at apprent@jaguarlandrover.com to discuss before you submit an application.

Control Engineer

Meet some apprentices

Raisa

Raisa
Maintenance Apprentice

“I chose Jaguar Land Rover because the structured and detailed Apprenticeship programme really appealed to me and my working style.”

I’m a Maintenance Engineer in my second year of the Advanced Manufacturing Apprenticeship Pathway. I was looking at a variety of apprenticeships, but I chose Jaguar Land Rover because they are one of Britain’s largest car manufacturers and the structured and detailed apprenticeship programme really appealed to me and my working style. One of the greatest aspects of being on any of the apprenticeship programmes, is the support you get to succeed. I started with a year at the training provider at Aston, but my development has only increased since being on-site in Solihull.

Ezra

Ezra
Design Engineer

“With self-driving vehicles becoming a reality, we’ll be looking at how people will make the most of their time in the car. My job is to continue to design cars that create experiences that customers love.””

As strange as this sounds, I didn’t know much about the world of engineering until a group of Jaguar Land Rover apprentices came into my school to talk about what they do. I was amazed that engineering was really suited to my skillset. And I realised that creative thinking and problem solving are exactly what is needed to do well as an apprentice here. I’ve been here three years now, working as a Design Engineer, and it has been harder than I thought, but the support is incredible. And the network of other apprentices is huge. There’s always someone who will listen to you and so many people you can learn from.

Kenneth

Kenneth
Connected Car Integration Engineer

“I chose Jaguar Land Rover because it’s a Great British Brand and I came here because I wanted to write code.”

It’s so exciting! 5G technology, streams of data and advanced cloud and server based platforms are allowing me to help our cars adapt in the moment to drive efficiency for the customer. Whether that’s predicting when a car needs to warm the seats or start up, or when an engine needs to change performance to match the conditions it’s driving in. Not to mention how we update battery range or infotainment systems in the blink of an eye.
