ADVANCED APPRENTICE PROGRAMME

Think Beyond your limits. There's no need to choose between education and practicals skills, because our Advanced Apprenticeship gives you both. You can broaden your mind with brand new concepts at college and put them in to action here at Jaguar Land Rover. One day, you'll be learning about the latest technologies in your field, and the next you'll be actually interacting with them - propelling your experiences beyond other people your age.
And while we open your eyes to the future of automotive technology, giving you a platform to make a real difference to Jaguar Land Rover and our customers, we'll also pay for you to complete several valuable academic and vocational qualifications.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3) is a four year programme, where you earn whilst you learn.

Your first year will be spent at college as a Jaguar Land Rover employee on full salary learning the engineering basics you'll need in your role with us. Outside of college term times you'll enrich your studies working at a Jaguar Land Rover plant alongside members of our skilled workforce. During your second and third years you'll continue your studies at college on a one to two-day release basis with the constant guidance and support of a Workplace Learning Manager.

Your fourth year will see you complete your end-point assessment and achieve your Level 3 Apprenticeship, ready for an amazing career in a permanent manufacturing or product development role.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

To join the Advanced Apprenticeship scheme you'll need Maths and English GCSE C Grade or above or Grade 4-9.

Additionally, 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) including a Science, Engineering or Technology at C Grade or above, or as an alternative, Engineering Vocational qualification Level 3 of 90 credit value (540 GLH).

REWARD AND BENEFITS

Your starting salary will be approximately £13,000 per year which you will receive even when you're studying at college. Upon completion of the scheme, provided you have performed well you will have achieved a Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering alongside a competitive salary. This will give you a brilliant grounding to contribute to Jaguar Land Rover's future.


We'll also pay your tuition and course fees and give you a generous holiday allowance as part of your package. You'll be able to access a range of deals and discounts from various retailers and many of our facilities have their own gyms and sports facilities so you'll have plenty of opportunities to play at the end of the working day.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

There are 2 pathways in our Advanced Apprentice programme - Manufacturing or Engineering. Whichever pathway you choose you'll learn how to work safely at all times and make a technical contribution to either the design, development, quality assurance, manufacture, installation, commissioning, decommissioning, operation or maintenance of our products or equipment.
You'll learn about and apply techniques and procedures to solve engineering/manufacturing problems and demonstrate effective interpersonal skills in communicating both technical and non-technical information.

MANUFACTURING

On this pathway you would ensure that plant and equipment perform to the required standard to ensure we meet all our production targets in one of our manufacturing facilities. Typically the work will cover a broad range of activities including installation, testing, fault finding and the on-going planned maintenance of complex automated equipment.


You may also support the installation, testing and commissioning of equipment and contribute to the business by identifying possible opportunities for improving working practices, processes and/or procedures.

MANUFACTURING PATHWAY LOCATIONS

If you apply for this pathway you can select from the following locations:


Halewood, near Liverpool


Engine Manufacturing Centre, Wolverhampton


West Midlands - you would be based at either our Solihull or Castle Bromwich site

MEET MATT GODDARD

ENGINEERING

On this pathway you would primarily work on all stages of product creation and modification. You will support activities ranging from early concept feasibility, design and development stages right through to final preparation for launch and customers. This may include working in concept studios, rapid prototyping, assembly, testing, validating and analysing performance.
You'll produce components and prototypes using a wide range of hand fitting techniques, produce assemblies and rigs using a range of materials and techniques and use mechanical, electrical and electronic testing devices and equipment. You'll also identify, diagnose & rectify design problems as well as contribute to the business by identifying possible opportunities for improving working practices, processes and/or procedures.

West Midlands - roles are predominantly at either our Whitley or Gaydon sites, but some may be based at Fen End or Browns Lane Ryton - at our Special Operations facility in Coventry
