The Functional Safety & Cyber Security Team, within the Vehicle Platform / The Body Engineering Central System Integration department is responsible for analysing the risk associated with Body systems technologies, deriving engineering mitigations and the system & vehicle level testing.   Our mission is to continuously align and manage functional safety and cyber security of our systems and features. We are an inclusive team operating with an agile mindset to rapidly deliver great innovation for our customers. 

 

Alongside delivering cyber security processes for our new features and systems, you will work with the relevant Engineering teams to identify gaps and threat spot gaps in the feature delivery within Body Engineering and interact with other areas of Engineering such as autonomous driving, propulsion and motion control to ensure seamless functionality across the vehicle. 

 

WHAT TO EXPECT

 

The Cyber Security Engineer will be required to:

 

  • Accountable for cyber security of the domain via Cyber security Concept sign off and driving a consistent technical approach to cyber security across the domain.
  • Lead the Cyber Security activities for Body domain features and technologies in accordance with the internal JLR lifecycle.
  • Liaise with the Body team’s interfacing departments such as Digital Product Platform Engineering, Central Compliance team to ensure a seamless embodiment of cyber security requirements.
  • Engage with Subject Matter Experts, Lead Engineers and Technical Specialists to drive cultural change and cyber security awareness within the team in pursuit of technical excellence and efficient delivery.
  • Liaise and build relationships with suppliers.
  • Organise internal (JLR) and/or external (with suppliers) review meetings when needed.
  • Support test engineers regarding Verification & Validation of cyber security requirements & goals.

 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

 

Candidates should ideally be educated to Degree level in Mechanical, Automotive or Electrical / Electronic / Systems or Computer & Software Engineering.

 

Essential:

  • >5 years working experience of applying a Cyber Security lifecycle ideally within automotive industry.
  • Working experience in Failure Mode Avoidance (FMA) – eg compilation of boundary diagrams, FMEA, Fault Trees, fishbone diagrams etc.  
  • Awareness of UNECE 156 and ISO26262 standards and regulations
  • Excellent team-working, organisation and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work to a high standard with minimum supervision.
  • Flexible approach.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.

Desirable: 

  • Knowledge of Body Systems.
  • Knowledge of vehicle electrical architecture and networks.
  • Working experience of Systems Engineering.  
  • Experience in working to an AGILE methodology.
