JOB TITLE: Electronics Design Subject Matter Expert
LOCATION: Budapest




The purpose of this role is to be the Electronics Technical Subject Matter Expert with an understanding of automotive electronic design principles and able to clearly commutate and review vehicle module hardware designs. They will be responsible for detecting error states and working with component teams and suppliers to ensure design robustness and compliances to JLR standards. This involves clear communication with Programme Teams, JLR engineers and suppliers to ensure that GRADE design reviews are delivered robustly prior to given design freeze points.

It is also essential for the candidate to actively keep themselves up to date with technical knowledge and to share learning with their peers.




  • Extensive experience in developing and delivering automotive electronic products or other equivalent experience
  • Degree in Electronics or alternative technical qualifications
  • Experience of microcontroller based electronics projects (automotive preferred)
  • Strong, applied skills in Electronic hardware design. 
  • Previous experience in validation and debug of electronics hardware at component level using standard equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, waveform generators, spectrum analyser etc.)
  • Must be able to examine a proposed circuit design and PCB layout, and identify potential issues which may affect reliability, robustness and EMC.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and can clearly articulate technical issues to all levels 
  • Must have high levels of integrity and self-discipline, to ensure that issues are resolved in a timely manner. 
  • Basic knowledge of simulation tools (e.g. Matlab, Simulink, Spice etc.)



  • A knowledge of automotive vehicle networks
  • Experience of developing high volume products from concept to production
  • Key practitioner in problem solving techniques (eg: six-sigma)
  • Understanding of DFMEA, PFMEA
  • Have a good understanding of most of the following: Power supply topologies, interfacing to microcontrollers, power switching, analogue design, digital circuits, EMC, stability analysis, vehicle network hardware, RF design, vehicle traction electronics, IGBTs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong influencing and engagement skills
  • Proven track record - portfolio of commercially successful products
