As a STA Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring that the parts and processes within our supplier manufacturing locations meet the highest standards for our luxury vehicles.


You’ll collaborate closely with Product Engineering, Procurement, and our supplier partners to deliver excellence in quality, delivery, and performance. Represent JLR at supplier sites and champion our vision of “Driving Manufacturing Excellence into our Global Supply Chain.”


This role involves working across internal and external locations to add value in sourcing, design, development, and quality management of parts and value streams.


This role will interface with suppliers to ensure quality and delivery performance meet current and future business requirements. With a key focus on enhancing supplier capability through achieving continuous improvements in delivery, this role will involve engaging suppliers, diagnosing their systems issues and working to develop the action plans to help achieve best practice.

  • Align standards with suppliers and ensure compliance through robust product and process controls at their manufacturing facilities. To guarantee parts are delivered on time, to quality and volume targets consistently in line with APQP / PPAP requirements.
  • Support project team reviews, resolving STA-related actions within sprint cycles and removing obstacles.
  • Support escalations from the Jaguar Land Rover Plant teams relating to quality or delivery performance issues impacting our ability to meet our targets. A structured diagnosis and practical problem-solving approach will be required to understand root cause(s) and drive implementation of countermeasures for specific issues escalated from the plant teams. Management of these high-risk suppliers will be through the JLR escalation process.  
  • Maintain productive relationships with internal stakeholder and suppliers’ representatives to ensure PSW quality and delivery targets are met, and all supplier manufacturing process related issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Support sourcing activities through completion of supplier site diagnostics – feeding back to Procurement to allow the correct selection of suppliers.
  • Apply lean tools and techniques as part of an integrated approach for supplier development improvement activities.
  • Review and approve tool, fixture, part design, supplier Plant Layout, Process Flow Diagram, PFMEA, Process Control Plan, and hence ensuring the delivery of the plan to achieve PPAP.
  • Contribute to improvement projects applying lean methodology to deliver sustainable transformation within the suppliers manufacturing operations.
  • Manage timely introduction of running changes within suppliers, validating compliance with engineering standards and volume requirements.
  • Drive continuous supplier improvement through the JLRQ framework, including site and performance assessments.

 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

 

Essential:

 

  • Technical degree or equivalent experience preferred    
  • 1-3 years’ experience in a manufacturing, engineering and/or quality assurance in automotive industry
  • Flexibility for frequent travel to supplier sites (UK, Europe, and worldwide)
  • Excellent communication skills at all organizational levels, internally and externally
  • Experience working in high-paced manufacturing operations
  • Practical knowledge of industrialization, parts quality, maturation, and approval activities, including APQP / PPAP processes
  • Hands-on experience with Lean tools and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to break down complex issues and deliver timely solutions in cross-functional teams
  • Change management capability and resilience in fast-paced environments
  • Proven ability to manage external stakeholders and supplier relationships effectively

 

Desirable:

 

  • Project management experience in supply chain
  • Ability to challenge existing thinking positively while building credibility and trust through expertise and personal style
