Body Engineering is one of the largest departments within Jaguar Land Rover. With an increasingly demanding premium customer and rapidly changing technologies and materials, Body Engineering has to stay at the forefront of vehicle innovation and research.

The Body Engineering team are one of the most experienced groups of their type in the UK / HU and have the knowledge and talent to hold their own against the best Body Engineers around the World.


The opportunity is to be part of the fast growing In-House Product design team that will deliver  the next generation of vehicles, using re-purposed and brand-new technology and techniques. You will be creating the future of mobility and automotive for years to come.

 

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

 

  • Lead the design and development of Seats systems and components for both new programmes and model year actions in line with the programme timescale and deliverable cadence. 
    • Lead developments from concept till component sign off (PSW) delivering to cost, quality, weight, attribute, sustainability and timing.
    • Contribute to DFMEA creation and updates.
    •   Demonstrate and implement robust design techniques (system tolerances).
    • Actively contribute in launching design solutions into manufacturing – pre-serial builds and serial production.
  • Lead the delivery of CAD geometry and functional requirements through the Virtual Series Phase on time.
  • Lead Evidence Based Engineering Reviews with the Tech Centre groups.
  • Manage / liaise with other areas of Body Engineering, other functional areas, suppliers and the Programme teams to ensure successful delivery, on time and to the committed cost.
  • Deliver the commodity plan to quality, cost and time, including maintaining the Worldwide Engineering Release System.
    Deliver the Engineering Advanced Product Quality Planning deliverables.
  • Coordinate the Management of Change Requests, expenditure forecasting and the relevant supplier teams in support of delivery of the programme milestones.
  • Work on component and vehicle test plans, including detailed planning of test and development stages through to sign off and support Engineering test teams with rectification of issues.
  • Ensure all appropriate Jaguar Land Rover standards are met through-out design maturation.
  • Keep all Technical documentation up to date including meeting minutes.

 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

 

Essential:

 

  • Previous experience of managing resolution of business, technical and process issues within a Project Team environment or In house development team.
  • Experience of Product development/product integration/manufacturing of seat structures, trim and systems.
  • A good understanding of product definition, product creation & delivery and change management processes.
  • Use of Digital, CAD, CAE, etc tools to develop component system geometry.
  • Knowledge and use of Problem-solving Techniques in the development process (e.g 8D).
  • Mechanical Engineering Degree qualified or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Experience with DFMEA.

 

Desirable:

 

  • Experience in Automotive Engineering, especially Interior design.
  • Initial experience of delivery of a sub-system with a level of complex technical challenge.
  • Experience in 6 Sigma- DMAIC and DFSSS. & PFMEA
