THE OPPORTUNITY

 

Body Engineering is one of the largest departments within Jaguar Land Rover. With an increasingly demanding premium customer and rapidly changing technologies and materials, Body Engineering has to stay at the forefront of vehicle innovation and research.

The Body Engineering team are one of the most experienced groups of their type in the UK and have the knowledge and talent to hold their own against the best Body Engineers around the World.
The opportunity is to be part of the fast growing In-House Product design team that will deliver  the next generation of vehicles, using re-purposed and brand-new technology and techniques. You will be creating the future of mobility and automotive for years to come.

 

Body, Interiors and Exteriors creates Vehicle Body engineering solutions which meet or exceeds our customers’ expectations and requirements at the best value.

Body Structures are responsible for the design and development of the Body less doors, which includes pressings, castings, extrusions and body sealing media for all JLR models.  It also manages the component and proto-type supplier base to ensure timing & project control is maintained.

 

The department is responsible for developing designs from concept through to production. Our deliverables are released 3D CAD models which demonstrate robustness via FMEAs, FDJ Tracker, DVP's, APQP and ultimately PSW approved parts and meets each programme attribute objectives.


WHAT YOU WILL NEED

 

•    Engineering knowledge of Body Structures/BIW design, function, performance, production and manufacturing requirements

•    Catia V5 and 3D Experience (V6) fluency
•    Creation of Concept CAD geometry from initial sections and surface data
•    Integration of CAD concepts into JLR standard AVA (parametric) model templates
•    Ensure data is up to date and reflects the required levels of maturity at any given point in time, ensuring efficient delivery and update of all AIMS issues assigned to them

•    Able to lead a small team of Engineers to deliver to programme gateways
•    Liaison with other areas within Body Engineering, other affected functional areas, suppliers and programme teams, to ensure system compatibility issues are resolved in a timely manner
•    Proven project timeline management, with the ability to multitask

•    Degree in Engineering or comparable qualification or sufficient experience 
•    Excellent interpersonal skills, with strong engagement and presentation skills at all levels
•    Fluency in English

 

Desirable

•    A passion for the automotive industry and the potential of automotive technology 
•    Successful history as a BIW CAD Designer/Engineer in the automotive sector
•    Releasing experience and knowledge of JLR release and change management systems 

•    Experience of problem solving tools e.g. 6 panel, PPS (8D), FMEA, Robustness, etc.
