JOB TITLE: Lead LV Power Supply Systems Engineer

The LV Power Supply team designs and develops low voltage (LV) power supply systems for future Jaguar Land Rover vehicles. We have responsibility for the predevelopment of LV power supply system concepts on all JLR powertrain variants, from conventional internal combustion engine (ICE) to mild-hybrid (MHEV), plug-in-hybrid (PHEV) and battery electric vehicles (BEV).
The LV Power Supply Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, verification and validation of LV Power Supply System concepts.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Design and development of new LV power supply system architectures
- Build proof of concepts to confirm conceptual ideas on the power supply
- Development and execution of power supply system Design Validation (DV) plans
- Collaboration with Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers on semiconductors and power supply trends for the future
- Creation and documentation of power supply system requirements, test cases and test procedures
- Ensuring compliance with Regulations and Standards (internal and external)
- Delivering tasks and projects on time and on budget
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Essential:
- Electrical or electronics engineering degree (or equivalent)
- Technical knowledge and experience of LV and/or HV power supply systems design and/or validation
- Experience of system-level and component-level issue resolution and strong practical ability
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts, data and conclusions within the team and to stakeholders
Desirable:
- Knowledge and understanding of systems engineering principles (including MBSE & SysML)
- Knowledge and experience of the product creation process
- Knowledge and experience of power system protection, load flow, harmonic and transient analysis
- Experience in power electronics HW and/or SW design
- Experience of structured problem solving (8D)
- Experience of failure mode avoidance (including DFMEA)
- Knowledge and experience of functional safety (ISO26 262)
- Knowledge and experience of other systems (electric propulsion, ADAS, steering, braking etc)
- Proficient in MATLAB/Simulink
- Requirements Management using TRM
- Proficient in use of various CAN/LIN & FlexRay tools such as CANalyzer and CANape Proficient in uses of LV & HV test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, dataloggers etc)
