JOB TITLE: Lead Systems Engineer

THE OPPORTUNITY

The successful applicant will join the Budapest Vehicle Platform Systems Engineering team, working on Propulsion Systems and Controls. You will lead the development of complex systems and features, producing high quality systems engineering artefacts, driving requirements maturity and supporting vehicle programmes from concept through to delivery.

You will collaborate across Engineering, working closely with Technical Specialists and domain experts to contribute to the JLR Body of Knowledge and enable flawless programme delivery.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Lead development of complex features at the logical and system levels, including architecture and requirements in a model based environment
• Populate and maintain Jira backlogs for owned features and systems
• Work with internal and external teams to ensure feature requirements are met
• Lead peer reviews and ensure consistent quality across engineering artefacts
• Contribute to tool and methodology development for system design
• Mentor junior engineers and support capability growth
• Lead vehicle level investigations into system/software issues
• Support issue resolution using data analysis and structured problem solving
• Maintain and deliver technical artefacts into delivery reporting systems (RTC, etc.)
• Liaise with software integration teams to understand dependencies
• Sign off system performance testing for owned features/systems
• Maintain awareness of relevant legislation and standards

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

Essential:

• Degree, apprenticeship or equivalent experience in relevant field
• A positive and collaborative approach to work
• Experience modelling complex systems (vehicle/powertrain preferred)
• Understanding of SysML and systems engineering principles
• Strong communication, influencing and problem solving skills
• Ability to work independently and proactively:

Desirable: 

• Agile experience (Scrum / Kanban / SAFe)
• Experience with TRM, Catia Magic or similar
• Automotive engineering delivery
• Interface definition for distributed control systems
• Understanding of functional safety, cyber security and ASPICE
• Knowledge of CAN/LIN/Ethernet networks
• Experience with FMEA/FFA
