THE OPPORTUNITY
The Accessories Engineering Group is accountable for the delivery of all engineering responsibilities, technical and commercial, in support of programme delivery on time, to cost and quality targets, for all JLR accessories. The team is the outward-looking face of the engineering function and is the first single point of contact for all external stakeholders to deliver Modern Luxury accessories.
Within Accessories Engineering Group, the Advanced Engineering team is in charge of defining the technical roadmap and key off-cycle activities for JLR Accessories.
Working with Attributes, System and Commodity teams, the Advanced Engineering team will create, plan, lead study and define the introduction scenarios of new technologies to support all aligned targets, enhanced attributes and customer experiences for the next generation of JLR Accessories.
To do so, the team is reinforcing the robustness of the whole process applying Systems Engineering.
This role is responsible to lead the definition and development of harmonised Structural Accessory solutions, consisting of multiple interconnected components, into Jaguar Land Rover vehicles for Accessories.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
• System Functional and Non-Functional Analysis - carry out a range of analysis and investigations of the customer requirements to define the expected system functionality and their performance targets.
• Evaluate multiple system design concepts and maintain integrity between system and its components to arrive at a harmonised solution
• System Functional and Physical Architecture - Liaise with architecture teams to maintain alignment with the specified programmes, as well as electrical and physical vehicle architecture.
• System Design Specification – prepare system requirements specification and developing functional designs, demonstrating how the system satisfies the defined customer requirements
• System Integration – Define system logical and physical architecture, Interface Control Document and a system integration plan.
• Verification and Validation - Design and develop system integration tests
• Lead cross-functional technical reviews on the systems
• Adhere to the defined systems engineering process
• Delivery of systems within Accessories across the range of Jaguar Land Rover vehicles
• Assist and contribute to the generation of targets and verification methods that are driven by Customer, Function Requirements and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis
• Contribute to the delivery of the area onto all programmes, in line with the Systems Engineering discipline outlined by Product Creation Systems
• Provide technical support and assistance across the operational team on topics relating to the integration and harmonisation of multiple interconnected components including issue resolution and objective data analysis
• Work with Technical Specialists and Research Engineering on Attribute and Function Forward Strategies, including new Function Definition and Failure Mode Avoidance
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Essential:
• Good relevant experience of working in a Systems Engineering environment - ideally within the Automotive Sector
• Model based engineering (MBE)
• Requirements Management (RM)
• Good verbal and written communications
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Track record as an effective team player with strong interpersonal skills
• Relevant experience of system definition, system architecture development, requirements specification, design/performance modelling, systems integration, system assessment and acceptance
• Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred
• Driving license
Desirable:
• Experience in applying Systems Engineering and in solving complex technical issues using a structured approach
• Experience in Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and SysML using IBM Rational Rhapsody
• Experience in IBM Rational DOORS
• Willingness to be involved with overseas testing. Note: Typical testing locations in which SCS Engineers may have to operate, depending on vehicle type & functions under investigation: UK, Europe, Sweden, USA, UAE
• Class 3 and 4PG driver training level (JLR internal process), or equivalent. Area will support internal process
