JOB TITLE: Safety System Engineer

This role exists to contribute to the definition, development and delivery of harmonised solutions for the Occupant Safety System consisting of multiple interconnected physical, pyrotechnic and electro-mechanical components, into future Jaguar Land Rover products. The individual in this role will own features and systems that contribute to the wider safety systems environment and experiences within the future vehicles.
Working cross-functionally as a part of an agile team the candidate will actively engage stakeholders and manage expectations as the Occupant system develops using features and systems, ensuring each system and feature contributes towards the desired vehicle level targets and vehicle integration requirements.

- Responsible for requirements derivation (often but not always driven from vehicle level input).
- Responsible for modelling and systems design, functional safety and cybersecurity.
- Working collaboratively with Electrical Architecture & Commodity Teams to implement new/existing features.
- Responsible for translating business and customer requirements into appropriate technical specifications.
- Responsible for creating, maintaining and developing the Well-being & Interior Experience System customer level requirements through the creation of Feature Statement of Intent(s) and statement of capabilities.
- Responsible for utilising Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) techniques to demonstrate system robustness through early verification and validation (V&V).
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Along with your ambition to achieve the exceptional, there are several skills that you’ll need to have to help you succeed here, including:
Essential:
- Degree in Engineering or other STEM subjects.
- Practical experience of using SysML and Matlab/Simulink for Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
- Experience in network architecture design/communication networks.
- Comprehensive understanding of Systems Engineering tools processes and practices.
- Solid understanding of requirements definition and interface documentation required to support the development and acceptance of solutions.
- Complex issue resolution across various functional commodities.
- Appreciation and understanding of customer experience and have a customer-centred design mindset.
- Positive attitude, and willingness to get involved with tasks across the System Engineering lifecycle.
- Ability to communicate with a wide range of audiences on sometimes complex issues, topics and engineering principles and practices.
- Ability to challenge existing thinking in a positive way whilst building credibility and trust through experience and personal style.
Desirable:
- Degree in System or Mechanical Engineering.
- Ability to analyse technical problems and provide pragmatic solutions.
- Familiarity with Agile & Scrum methodologies.
- Experience of building and managing multiple relationships in complex stakeholder environments.
- Experience with MATLAB, Simulink, TRM, CATIA Magic System of Systems (MSOSA).
- Experience of working in the automotive industry.
- Experience of dealing with safety critical systems especially automotive.
