The Opportunity


Motion Information Services is a growing area within the Chassis & Motion Controls team in Chassis Engineering. Motion Information Services is responsible for the calculation, estimation and fusion of data to create information related to vehicle motion for use as a service by other features or systems.
This role will require you to lead both technical and project aspects of the definition; development and delivery of harmonised systems solutions to meet the needs of your customer features and systems. The role has a focus on project management within the agile methodologies of Kanban and Scrum whilst remaining technically involved in the system engineering activities. The technical elements of the role include eliciting stakeholder requirements from a range of internal customers, developing logical and physical architectures, and working closely with controls and software engineers to deliver against these requirements. You will also support the delivery of rigorous Functional Safety and Cyber Security cases as part of the Systems Engineering process.
You will work within an Agile product development environment focused on creating value for your stakeholders.

Key Performance Indicators
•    Own and manage project plan at high level for the entire team. Report out at regular intervals.
•    Helping the agile team focus on creating high-value product increments which meet stakeholder needs.
•    Ensuring that scrum events take place and are positive, productive, and kept within the timebox.
•    Safekeep and deploy methods for effective Product Goal definition and Product Backlog management.
•    System Functional and Non-Functional Analysis - carry out a range of analysis and investigations of the customer requirements to define the expected system functionality and their performance targets.
•    Evaluate multiple system design concepts and maintain integrity between system and its components to arrive at a harmonised solution
•    System Functional and Physical Architecture - Liaise with architecture teams to maintain alignment with the specified programmes, as well as electrical and physical vehicle architecture.
•    System Design Specification – prepare system requriements specification and developing functional designs, demonstrating how the system satisfies the defined customer requirements
•    System Integration – Define system logical and physical architecture, Interface Control Document and a system integration plan.
•    Verification and Validation - Design and develop system integration tests
•    Lead cross-functional technical reviews on the systems
•    Adhere to the defined systems engineering process

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

•    Delivery of systems within Chassis & Motion Controls across the range of Jaguar Land Rover vehicles 
•    Assist and contribute to the generation of targets and verification methods that are driven by Customer, Function Requirements and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis 
•    Contribute to the delivery of the area onto all programmes, in line with the Systems Engineering dicipline outlined by Product Creation Systems
•    Provide technical support and assistance across the operational team on topics relating to the integration and harmonisation of multiple interconnected components including issue resolution and objective data analysis
•    Work with Technical Specialists and Research Engineering on Attribute and Function Forward Strategies, including new Function Definition and Failure Mode Avoidance
•    Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
•    Expert level project management experience working with large multidisciplinary project teams
•    Good relevant experience of working in a Systems Engineering environment - ideally within the Automotive Sector
•    Model based systems engineering (MBSE) 
•    Requirements Management (RM)
•    Good verbal and written communications
•    Analytical and problem solving skills
•    Understanding of principles of vehicle dynamic behaviour
•    Track record as an effective team player with strong interpersonal skills
•    Relevant experience of system definition, system architecture development, requirements specification, design/performance modelling, systems integration, system assessment and acceptance
•    Full driving licence 
•    Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred


•    Experience in applying Systems Engineering and in solving complex technical issues using a structured approach
•    Knowledge of Control Theory
•    Experience in Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and SysML using IBM Rational Rhapsody, Dassault Systèmes Catia Magic or similar toolset
•    Experience in IBM Rational DOORS, Dassault Systèmes TRM or similar toolset
•    Experience using Matlab & Simulink
•    Modelling of vehicle dynamic behaviour
•    Experience of working in an Agile product development environment
•   Willingness to be involved with overseas testing. Note: Typical testing locations in which Chassis Engineers may have to operate, depending on vehicle type & functions under investigation: UK, Europe, Sweden, USA, UAE
