WHAT TO EXPECT
We are looking for a Cell Engineer to support the development, testing and delivery of the next generation batteries for traction battery systems. You will be using state-of-the-art facilities, you’ll provide the power behind our vehicles working in our Powertrain Engineering team. You will possess the ideal balance between performance and sustainability, while responding to the environmental issues that shape our industry.
The role is part of Advanced Battery Engineering function and contributes to the development of new technologies and features to product delivery. This is an opportunity to join a team that are working at the fore-front of battery pack development in a team that are making significant steps in modelling, testing and overall concept design.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Work on the next generation HV batteries by working with the leading suppliers
- Perform validation & analysis of new and existing cell technology
- Deliver knowledge capturing milestone projects including drafting of standards and test procedures
- Deliver TCDS (Technology Creation & Development System) projects to support programme delivery
- Deliver PCDS (Product Creation & Development System) projects to support commodity delivery
- Leverage the ‘High Value Manufacturing’ Catapult collaboration with academia and Subject Matter Experts
Essential:
- Electrochemist background at degree level or higher
- Fundamental understanding of battery cell working principles
- Experience of cell/module/pack testing
- Hands-on experience of battery cell testing and data analysis
- Experience in cell/battery pack design
Desirable:
- Experience of using simulation and modelling programmes
- Experience of planning, co-ordination, delivery and reporting of requirements such as Product Creation Delivery System (PCDS)
- A working knowledge of electrical systems and development processes, such as those used at Jaguar Land Rover
- Previous experience of working with Universities and Research partners
