JOB TITLE: DAG Senior Soft Surface Modeller

SALARY: £40,000 – £50,000

The Digital Assets Group (DAG) forms part of the Brand Operations area within the JLR Customer Experience Commercial function. It is the centre of excellence for the creation of external customer facing CGI assets and digital media, operating on-site at JLR UK.


You will work as part of the Digital Assets Model Production team to generate high quality fully configurable 3D visualisation models, representative of JLR products to support a variety of internal and external customer facing CGI content creation use cases, all produced and compliant with Digital Assets technical processes and standards. The primary focus is successful delivery of modelled content to cater for Commercial, Marketing Sales and Services and cross-functional customer facing use cases.


You will be involved with 3D scene management, 3D topology modelling, UV implementation, material/shader application, sculpting and reference material management. There will be scope to maintain and adapt internal processes to improve efficiency and quality of models delivered by the department.


Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities


  • Collaborate with Production Supervisor and Senior Lead on production scheduling and delivery timings.
  • Support production sub-team with detailed knowledge of Digital Assets Model Production Standards and Processes as well as technical understanding of CGI modelling techniques and utilisation of associated software packages.
  • Consume build inputs to produce 3d assets according to the Departmental Standards.
  • Utilise Product Data Model Build Specification document to ensure completed scope of work is actioned and tracked accordingly.
  • Capture any issues discovered with relation the production inputs and communicate to Supplier Production Supervisor via appropriate escalation routes / meetings / documents.
  • Be accountable and ensure optimal quality of own work produced, as well as constructively critique modelled content created by others in the production team.
  • Identify areas to develop of Digital Assets processes and standards through continuous improvement in collaboration with the Digital Assets Model Production team.
  • Ensure that all production work is stored and managed in accordance to Digital Assets production standards. Take responsibility for the status / order of all production folder directories utilised during production activities.





To be successful in the role you will need to be results driven, demonstrating tenacity, drive and perseverance with the ability to deliver high-quality models in a complex and highly demanding environment. You will be effective in a team environment, actively able to develop and support team members and lead cross-functional collaborations. 


Technical requirements include:


  • 3+ years of direct experience in Automotive CGI production.
  • Expert in Autodesk Maya (or equivalent) and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Expert in data / file management, scene structuring and configuration.
  • Experience in working to defined processes and technical standards (pipeline).
  • Knowledge of MS Office365 – Excel in particular.
