WHAT TO EXPECT

 

Joining us as a Functional Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for defining the working process, delivering functional safety requirements, ensuring traceability to safety goals, developing software verification processes and delivering test plans to ensure that JLR products are aligned to the ISO26262 standard. There is more emphasis on JLR producing more of our own code for safety critical applications with less reliance on suppliers.

 

You’ll be part of the business’ core software capability, with a critical role in delivering software according to the ISO26262 standard that supports the development of our Autonomous, Connected, Electric and Shared future vehicle architectures.

 

You’ll be expected to take a leading role for one or more of the functional safety software delivery phases such as the authoring of software safety requirements, performing software safety analysis or the software verification and testing. You will be expected to represent the department in wider business discussions, and also be hands-on with software development, verification testing, standards & process definition and technical documentation. There will be opportunity to introduce new tools and processes into the UKs largest automotive OEM i.e. be a leader and a shaper.


WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

You’ll be an experienced Functional Safety Engineer 5 years +.  You will have knowledge and expeience of on-baord and off-board safety mechanisms and safety measures to protect safety critical software throughout its development and operational life.

 

A sound appreciation of the underlying principles of software development and verification for complex embedded systems.  An ability to think analytically, rigorously and creatively with a commitment to quality and outstanding results.

 

Prior experience performing software verification and validation testing of safety-critical software.  Thorough knowledge of ISO26262 (specifically part 6) or other equivalent software safety guidelines.
