POSITION: Head of Group Technical Accounting – Commercial, Legal & Regulatory

JLR is undergoing significant transformation as it delivers its Reimagine strategy and evolves its global commercial and operating model. This role offers the opportunity to operate at the heart of that transformation, providing seniorlevel influence over how complex commercial strategy is enabled through accounting and financial governance. The successful candidate will gain exposure to senior Finance leadership and key decisionmakers across the business, with a clear opportunity to build a broader Group Finance leadership profile in a global, iconic automotive organisation.

 

The Head of Group Technical Accounting – Commercial, Legal & Regulatory is a senior (LL5) finance leadership role with enterprisewide accountability for technical accounting support to JLRs commercial strategy, NSCs (National Sales Companies) retailer arrangements and regulatory impacts. The role acts as the Group technical authority for Commercial, Legal and Regulatory accounting matters, partnering with senior Commercial and Finance leadership to enable strategy execution through strong accounting judgement, governance and highquality Group reporting.

 

THE ROLE
 
Key Responsibilities

 

Strategic & Commercial Partnership

  • Act as the primary technical accounting advisor for JLR’s commercial strategy and gotomarket activity.
  • Proactively partner with senior Commercial, Legal and Finance leaders to shape decisions at an early stage.
  • Translate complex accounting matters into clear, decisionuseful commercial insight.

 

Technical Accounting & Governance

  • Lead all technical accounting assessments relating to complex commercial and contractual arrangements.
  • Ensure consistent and compliant application of IFRS across the Group, with robust documentation of judgement.
  • Own external auditor (KPMG) engagement and alignment with JV partners (including TML).
  • Proactively assess accounting implications of business change and new standards.

 

Group Reporting & Change Delivery

  • Provide senior technical leadership to Group Reporting outcomes for Commercial, Legal and Regulatory areas.
  • Drive simplification and optimisation of R2R processes while maintaining strong controls.
  • Minimise late adjustments, audit surprises and control issues

 

Leadership & Capability

  • Lead and develop a highperforming technical accounting team, embedding continuous improvement.
  •  Build trusted, collaborative relationships with Finance Directors and Controllers across global sales operations.

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience

 

  • Strong commercial acumen with pragmatic, proportionate judgement.
  • Proven ability to influence and challenge at senior levels.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Comfortable operating in complex, ambiguous and fastmoving environments.
  • ACA (or equivalent) qualified.
  • Significant postqualification experience in technical accounting within a complex organisation.
  • Big 4 background strongly preferred: Director or strong Senior Manager calibre.
  • Deep IFRS expertise; PLC reporting essential. SEC exposure desirable.
  • Systems experience (SAP and/or HFM) preferred.  
  • Customer and outcome focused: ensures accounting supports great commercial and customer outcomes while protecting JLR.
  • Courageous and accountable: provides strong technical challenge, takes ownership of complex judgements and decisions.
  • Agile and collaborative works across functions and geographies to deliver outcomes at pace.
  • Develops people and capability: builds technical excellence and future leadership within the team.
