As Performance & Economy Module Leader you will be a key member of the P&E team, which is responsible for attribute development of performance, emissions and fuel economy and the combustion system development.

 

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

 

  • Principally responsible for delivery of engine attribute development and validation, ensuring that attributes are delivered to a sufficient maturity level at project gateways. Reporting of status to the Principal Engineer and Senior Management.
  • Coordinate Programme specific activities to ensure reliable delivery of the Module targets on behalf of the Centre of Competence.
  • Provide project leadership and direction to the development team in support of relevant program activity.
  • Support relevant design reviews and lead / support issue resolution through established processes.
  • Outward facing interface for customers of the department. Lead interaction with test facilities and instrumentation departments for engine programs, resolving any conflicts or escalating issues for resolution as necessary.
  • Drive continuous improvement activity including creation and maintenance of JLR company standards relevant to role.
  • Ensure validation planning alignment to agreed & budgeted P&E test campaign.
  • Responsibility appropriate utilisation metrics are accurately completed.
  • Reporting status at relevant project meetings and gateways.
  • Ensure P&E testing is conducted safely.
  • Support relevant technical reviews and lead / support issue resolution through established processes and standard JLR tools.
  • Interface with customers of the department efficiently. Lead interaction with test facilities and instrumentation departments, resolving any conflicts or escalating issues for resolution as necessary.

 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

 

You will need to have a passion for the automotive industry with project management capabilities and excellent execution skills. You will be a dynamic and determined individual, highly driven, committed and results-orientated with significant pace, energy and confidence. Able to combine a short term, pragmatic focus with strategic vision. A “can-do attitude is a must with the confidence to challenge existing thinking in a positive way whilst building credibility and trust through experience and personal style.

 

Technically you will need:

  • Strong technical background with proven knowledge of engine engineering
  • Knowledge of core combustion and emissions fundamentals.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of engine components and systems.
  • In-depth understanding of design principles and the application of quality tools within an engine engineering environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within business.
  • Understanding of design principles and the application of quality tools within an engine engineering environment.
  • Educated to degree level in relevant engineering discipline.
  • Experience within engine product development or design environment.
  • Working knowledge of problem solving and quality tools is essential.
  • Strong MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project).
  • Previous experience of leading the resolution of business, technical and process issues within a project team environment.
  • Experience with DOE-based engine optimization procedures and software tools such as AVL Cameo. Ability to design and execute DOE-based test campaigns independently.
  • Project management experience.
