WHAT TO EXPECT
 
Jaguar Land Rover have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Process Engineer (Welding) to join our new Electric Powertrain Manufacturing Engineering (PTME) team. The Electric PTME team is developing to support future electrification developments in support of the Jaguar Land Rover range of vehicles and you’ll be heavily involved with developing new, technologically advanced electric propulsion systems, for our current and future model lines.
 
As a key part of the Assembly & Test, Electric Powertrain team you’ll lead a high calibre team of Process Engineers in the planning and implementation of new and major changes to Electric Drive Unit (EDU) assembly and test facilities. Working collaboratively in a senior capacity with Product Development Engineers, Facility vendors and Suppliers to ensure that component and whole propulsion designs meet world class quality and efficiency standards. 
 
As the Senior Process Engineer you’ll be responsible for:
 
•    Leading a team of engineers responsible for the planning and development of new and major changes to Pack and Module Battery unit assembly and test line.
•    Utilising your knowledge to lead the development and implementation of assembly, in-process test processes and facilities to deliver the safety, quality delivery and cost objectives.
•    Overseeing the strategic planning, development and implementation of installation timing plans with key selected suppliers
•    Ensuring adherence to company and departmental operating processes and policies
•    Supporting senior management activities through development and monitoring of timing plans
•    Offering support and guidance to your team on technical issues and escalate where appropriate
•    Providing your knowledge and support at virtual build events and physical builds at the workshop
•    Providing  feasibility statements for Product Development designs to suit manufacturing build requirements
 
Due to the nature of the role there will also be the potential for some European and Overseas travel.
 
WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

You’ll preferably have a background in joining technologies to include laser welding within high speed assembly and automation. Applications are welcomed from individuals who have demonstrable experience and an in depth understanding of Powertrain Assembly to include Internal Combustion Engines, Transmission, EDU and / or E-Motor. You’ll have the ability to effectively lead a team to achieve results by meeting deliverables whilst supporting projects from early concepts to launch at the Jaguar Land Rover sites.

 

Ideally you’ll be educated to Degree level within a relevant Welding or Engineering discipline. Although candidates with an HNC / HND and relevant experience will also be considered.
