WHAT TO EXPECT

 

The Electromagnetic (EM) Simulation Team is responsible for developing and implementing virtual optimisation of installed antenna and cable/component placement on JLR vehicles. This includes autonomous radar technology, connected car antennas and EMC arising from high speed networks and electrification.

 

In this role you will leverage 3D Finite Element Analysis and ray-tracing EM simulation tools to maximise connectivity of JLR vehicles. You will develop full vehicle simulation models and tests to aid in the design and packaging of antenna systems at vehicle concept stage and support Electromagnetic Compatibility problem resolution when required.


Key accountabilities and responsibilities

 

As an EM Simulation Engineer you will deliver vehicle level antenna and cable simulation models, providing clear reporting of analysis results and recommendations to allow development of parts or change in packaging strategy. In doing so you will work closely with component teams and provide technical leadership to troubleshoot arising RF problems.

 

Other day to days of the EM simulation engineer include developing new workflows and improvements on existing EM Simulation Projects. As well as communicating complex technical information to all levels of leadership in a clear and concise manner to aide issue resolution.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED


As well as having a passion for our world class products, you will possess the following skills and experience:

 

  • Practical experience of using EM simulation tools such as DS CST STUDIO SUITE, Altair FEKO or equivalent
  • A comprehensive understanding of antenna theory and RF measurement techniques
  • A working knowledge of simulation and optimisation techniques relating to antenna or EMC performance
  • A fundamental understanding of electromagnetic compatibility.
