WHAT TO EXPECT
 
You will be a senior qualified Solicitor with considerable experience to provide strategic legal and commercial advice, leadership and direction in respect of the global JLR business. The successful candidate will be a key and influential adviser, providing practical legal advice on a range of business matters, and will be required to demonstrate leadership in managing a team of qualified solicitors, to deliver a best-in-class legal service.

 

This role has accountability for delivering high volume and complex legal advice, managing a team effectively, and providing key input and support to help shape the strategies and objectives of JLR.

 

The role will involve taking the lead in making key commercially astute decisions about legal and commercial risks which affect the JLR business.

 

THE ROLE
 
Key Responsibilities

 

  • All legal issues which arise in respect of JLR’s Indirect Supply Chain, Digital, Trading Division and Research departments, in addition to a range of other commercial matters
  • Advising, negotiating and approving a range of commercial matters and arrangements / agreements
  • Working with various stakeholders including on a cross-border basis to shape and implement business strategies
  • Leading and overseeing the review, creation and streamlining of new and existing processes
  • Legislative and sector specific horizon scanning
  • Managing high volume and complex work, whilst successfully leading a team of solicitors
  • Cross-functional and cross border collaboration, whilst building a strong network of stakeholders

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience

 

  • Highly qualified Solicitor with extensive proven experience of working on commercial contracts, preferably with an emphasis on Supply Chain, IT, sales, research and engineering
  • Experience gained at a large multinational business as a senior in-house lawyer
  • Extensive experience of managing or supervising a team of lawyers
  • Highly effective prioritisation skills, with an ability to juggle a large and varied workload
  • Excellent attention to detail and an ability to process information and present the output in a user-friendly way which is easily understandable by non-lawyers at all levels of the business

 

Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experience
 

  • Experience of working in an in-house team
  • Experience of working on high value and complex contracts with global companies
