Lead Thermal Control Systems Engineer – Join the Future of Electrified Mobility at JLR!

 

We’re on the lookout for a talented and driven Lead Thermal Control Systems Engineer to help shape the future of propulsion at JLR. Based at our state-of-the-art Gaydon facility, this is your chance to take a leading role in developing cutting-edge control systems that power our next generation of electrified vehicles.

 

You’ll be working at the heart of innovation, providing technical leadership within an Agile framework, and helping to define the strategy, methods, and tools that drive our success. WHAT TO EXPECT

 

In this role, you’ll play a key part in delivering high-quality outcomes and supporting the wider team through a range of responsibilities, including – 

 

  • Take the lead in developing multiple control systems, shaping the future vision, defining system architecture, establishing robust requirements, and overseeing test methods and documentation
  • Collaborate closely with both internal and external software delivery teams to ensure that all outputs align with the defined control system requirements
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of control system design by developing and refining tools, methods, and best practices
  • Provide technical leadership in resolving complex issues within your area of expertise, ensuring a robust and reliable product launch, and responding effectively to feedback from the calibration team
  • Mentor and support team members, helping to build a high-performing, world-class capability in control systems engineering
  • Communicate confidently and clearly at all levels, presenting technical issues, feasibility solutions, and regular progress updates to stakeholders
    Offer guidance and support to colleagues in resolving key technical challenges, fostering a collaborative and solutions-focused environment

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

To thrive in this role, you’ll bring a solid background, relevant certifications, and the following key skills – 

 

  • Proven problem-solving ability — this is a critical aspect of the role; candidates must be able to tackle complex engineering challenges and deliver clear, effective solutions
  • Background in control systems, systems engineering, or calibration engineering, with a track record of delivering high-quality control solutions
  • Experience in delivering control systems for automotive applications, ideally within thermal systems
  • Requirements engineering — ability to write, decompose, and manage system and control requirements effectively
  • Control system design expertise, including architecture definition, algorithm development, and validation
  • Proficiency in MATLAB and Simulink for modelling, simulation, and control system development
