Digital and Technology Solutions Degree Apprenticeship
Our Digital and Technology Solutions Degree Apprenticeships are aimed at people who have a passion for learning and innovation.

As a Digital and Technology Solutions Degree Apprentice, you will implement technology solutions aligned to your pathway, to develop new products and services and increase productivity using digital technologies. The Level 6 Digital and Technology Solutions Degree apprenticeship programme takes four years to complete and adheres to the Skills England Digital and Technology Solutions Professional Apprenticeship standard. As an apprentice, you will develop the Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours (KSBs) outlined in the apprenticeship standard. These will be assessed during your End Point Assessment (EPA), where you will demonstrate the competencies and skills you’ve gained throughout the programme.
Data Analytics pathway
Innovation starts life in numbers. Data dictates where we go next. You’ll tell us what it’s saying. But first, we need to make you fluent in this unique language. By the end of the programme, you’ll understand data structures, software development procedures and analytical tools we use.
This pathway will expose you to key areas including Data Science & Machine Learning and Business Analytics & Visualisation, and you could find yourself working within Data & Artificial Intelligence
(DAIO), Engineering Operations (EO) or Vehicle Platform. You will be asked to indicate your preference during the application process.
WHAT TO EXPECT
During your apprenticeship, you’ll gain valuable hands-on experience and career-building skills while working at the forefront of the automotive industry. This exciting programme is designed to help you build practical skills, deepen your foundational knowledge, and develop essential business behaviours such as teamwork and problem-solving. And you’ll be supported by a JLR early careers cohort leader, the university team, and your line manager every step of the way.

Year 1 – 2
This programme is delivered through a combination of online study, face-to-face lectures, independent learning each week. This gives you the chance to apply your learning from University of Warwick to projects in a real-world environment. You’ll study a range of modules designed to build your essential knowledge, skills and behaviours, with regular process reviews along to way to ensure you’re getting the support you need from your tutors and line manager.
Years 3-4
In years 3 and 4 you will complete modules related to your chosen specialism - Data Analytics. In your final year, you’ll complete a work-based project as part of your End Point Assessment (EPA). This is an opportunity for you to use the skills and experience you gained throughout your time on the programme and apply them directly to your role. And when you’ve successfully completed your EPA, you’ll achieve your Level 6 Apprenticeship and taking on new responsibilities and making a meaningful impact within the business.
As an apprentice you could join us within the following teams:
DATA & ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE OFFICE (DAIO) TEAM - Gaydon
As part of the Data & AI Office (DAIO), you’ll join a fast-moving, entrepreneurial team where you’ll help solve real commercial challenges and influence key business decisions. From global programmes to cost and quality targets, your insights will drive impact across the organisation. You’ll build core skills in data structures, analytics tools, and agile methodologies like Scrum, while gaining hands-on experience with tools such as tableau, GCP or python, to name a few.
Throughout the programme, you’ll support the team in tackling complex analytics problems, deploying scalable solutions, and creating reusable data products. You’ll also engage with users and stakeholders to understand and document business requirements. Over time, you’ll develop expertise in problem structuring, data wrangling, modelling, visualisation, and analytical strategy. Amongst other learnings, you’ll have completed our three key pathways in your fourth year; Data Analytics (DA), Data Science (DS) and Data Engineering (DE), after which you’ll align to your chosen technical path for long-term growth within DAIO.
Information and Digital Technology (ID&T)- Gaydon
As a Data Apprentice in our Information & Digital Technology I&DT team, you’ll use data to strengthen JLR’s cyber security and digital capabilities. You will collaborate with teams across Business Protection, Brand Protection, Product Engineering, and other business functions, take part in a variety of data-driven projects, ranging from awareness and training initiatives to platform deployment and research into emerging technologies such as AI within Threat Intelligence. During your first three years, you'll build core skills in data structures, analytics tools and software development, while completing a series of rotations across our cyber teams to develop a broad understanding of cyber governance and operations ahead of your End Point Assessment.
Business Excellence (BX) - Gaydon
Business Excellence is at the heart of Product Engineering promoting engineering excellence and transformation through efficient, pioneering innovation, robust processes and planning, fostering empowered teams who act with unwavering integrity and a customer quality mindset. It therefore enables the development of our prototype vehicles driving forward precision, reliability, creativity and execution in the different teams across Product Engineering.
In the role that Business Excellence is recruiting to you will learn how to develop and implement data solutions while visualising the data you prepare for analysis by the business at all levels. You will therefore gain knowledge in data requirements, data pipeline development and data analysis. You will use cloud computing skills to store your data having validated it.
Engineering Operations (EO) - Whitley / Ansty Park
Engineering Operations (EO) are at the heart of JLR Engineering. Involved at every stage of the engineering process, they underpin technical innovation and product delivery with programme management, tools and processes and specialist technical services to deliver our world class products. A diverse team, Engineering Operations harness a variety of skill sets, from project management, information management and data analytics, to building and testing prototypes. By joining Engineering Operations, you will not only grow your career, but you will make a difference.
You could find yourself focusing on activities such as validating data measurements for testing, developing automation evaluation tools, correlating and validating data or identifying data quality improvements. You will develop skills such as agile project management, data quality tools and process development, data management, data presentation and data visualisation.
As an apprentice within Engineering Operations, you could join one of us in one of the following roles:
Data Engineer - As we transition to electric vehicles (EVs), our Chassis Dyno testing processes must adapt to new technologies, data requirements, and legislative standards. This apprentice will play a key role with other Data Engineers in developing and implementing data solutions that address these challenges, ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our EV testing procedures. In this role you will develop knowledge of programming languages and learn to build data pipelines. You will also gain knowledge of data acquisition and analysis, cloud computing and importantly problem solving and critical thinking. (Whitley)
Data Validation and Management Engineer - This role will span across Electric Machine, Electric Drive Unit (EDU), Inverter, Cell, Battery, Power-in-Loop (PiL), and Vehicle-in-Loop (ViL) test beds. The individual in the Data Validation and Management role will be responsible for delivering timely, accurate, secure, and accessible test data to the wider engineering group, enabling efficient and
informed engineering decisions. You will learn how to manage data sources while validating data quality to build and maintain data pipelines. You will learn to store data is securely and automate data flows using cloud services to enable scalability and compliance with security standards. You will also learn to visualise data, while applying problem solving and critical thinking, so that actionable insights can be taken from it. (Ansty Park and Whitley)
VEHICLE PLATFORM TEAM Gaydon, Whitley, NAIC, Solihull
The Vehicle Platform team is where engineering meets innovation - delivering world class automotive experiences. We engineer and deliver the core systems that define the customer experience - everything from Body Interiors, Body Exteriors, Body in White, Chassis, EDU, Powertrains and Accessories. We are a large, highly skilled team with a focus on integrating cutting-edge technology and engineering excellence to create vehicles that set new standards in performance, comfort and safety.
Our team is responsible for creating both the hardware and software that delivers the innovative features and exceptional capability customers expect from every JLR vehicle. During development, we capture and analyse vast amounts of data from vehicles, test rigs and simulations, as well as data from project management and engineering processes. Additionally, we utilise data shared from customer vehicles to monitor product performance and robustness, and to gain valuable insights into how our vehicles are used in the real world. By unlocking the power of this data, we ensure complex systems perform at their best and help engineers to continuously refine and enhance our products.
As a Data Analytics Apprentice, you’ll work alongside experienced data professionals to transform this data into meaningful and impactful insights. Using tools such as Tableau, Python, SQL, Matlab, and leveraging Cloud platforms, you’ll help deliver scalable solutions that benefit the entire Vehicle Platform team.
You’ll gain hands-on experience across multiple disciplines, collaborating with Data Analysts, Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and Data Architects to unlock the power and value of data. This is your opportunity to develop technical skills, solve real-world challenges, and make a tangible impact on the future of our vehicles.
WHAT’S REQUIRED?
To apply, you’ll need to have achieved GCSE Maths and English Language at level 5 (C) or above. You’ll also need three additional GCSEs at level 5 (C) or higher, to include one STEM (science, technology, engineering or maths) subject
In addition, you will need to have achieved or be on track to achieve A-level Maths at grade B or higher and an additional A-level in Physics, Chemistry, Design & Technology, ICT, Computer Science, Economics or Engineering at grade C or higher.
