The Cockpit team at JLR is one of the most experienced and respected in the UK, known for engineering complex, in-house cockpit systems that define modern luxury. With a reputation for excellence and innovation, the team is pushing boundaries in materials, design, and sustainability to deliver world-class interior experiences.

We are now seeking a highly skilled Materials, Moulding & Process Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join this pioneering team. This is a unique opportunity to lead the development and application of advanced materials in cockpit systems, driving innovation and sustainability across our product range.

WHAT TO EXPECT

As the SME for Materials, Moulding & Process, you will play a central role in shaping the material strategy for cockpit components. You’ll work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and supplier teams to ensure materials meet performance, safety, cost, and environmental targets.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Defining and validating Tech Centre-approved materials, including plastics, adhesives, and interior paints.
• Leading sustainability initiatives by identifying and applying innovative, eco-conscious materials.
• Managing supplier development and overseeing manufacturing processes, with a focus on plastic processing.
• Collaborating with industry partners to resolve material and process issues and expand the approved materials list.
• Supporting cockpit-related research and innovation projects, acting as a technical leader and sustainability champion. 

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Along with your ambition to achieve the exceptional, there are several skills that you’ll need to have to help you succeed here, including:

• Experience in materials application within the automotive industry
• Expert level knowledge of materials science, polymer processing, and industry standards
• Skilled level plastic injection process experience
• Expert level mould flow and tooling knowledge
