Come and join JLR as an NVH Wind Noise Rig Test Engineer!
This is a hands‑on role at the heart of vehicle refinement, where you’ll be working with cutting‑edge facilities to understand, measure and improve wind noise performance across our vehicle programmes. You’ll play a key part in turning complex testing into clear, trusted insight that helps shape world‑class products.
As part of the role, you’ll take ownership of vehicle preparation and testing within the Wind Noise Rig, carrying out detailed assessments, capturing high‑quality NVH data, and validating results before sharing them with the wider attribute teams. It’s a role that rewards technical curiosity, precision, and pride in delivering robust, repeatable results.
You’ll join the established NVH Laboratory Operations group, known for its pace, flexibility and technical excellence. Supporting vehicle and system‑level refinement, the team plays a critical role in the creation, launch and quality of Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles, helping deliver the refinement and craftsmanship that define JLR’s premium luxury brands.
WHAT TO EXPECT
You can expect a varied and rewarding role, where your day-to-day will involve tasks such as –
- Prepare, maintain, and calibrate the Wind Noise Rig and test parts, ensuring capacity, readiness, and high‑quality data delivery
- Collaborate with Aeroacoustics Attribute teams to shape clear, achievable test requests that support verification activities and vehicle targets
- Safely operate the Wind Noise Rig, conducting tests and acquiring NVH data in line with approved methods and business requirements
- Analyse, validate, and interpret test data, providing robust outputs to support sound engineering decisions
- Manage testing activity through the test request/booking system, delivering KPIs and supporting issue resolution during verification testing
- Support the continuous improvement of test methods, capabilities, and instrumentation, identifying current gaps and future needs
- Champion health, safety, and compliance, mentor apprentices and junior engineers, and represent the NVH Labs and JLR with professionalism and pride
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
We’re looking for someone with the right blend of experience, qualifications, and practical skills, including –
- A relevant degree or equivalent hands‑on experience, with proven operation of test rigs in a controlled test facility environment
- Experience in NVH data acquisition, analysis, and reporting using Siemens LMS, Head Acoustics, or similar platforms
- Good understanding of vehicle systems and components, with awareness of fundamental aeroacoustics principles
- Strong knowledge of noise and vibration measurement techniques within an automotive or engineering test setting
- Sound understanding of Health & Safety requirements, including Risk Assessments, COSHH, and SDS, with a strong safety mindset
- Confident IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for clear technical reporting and communication
- Self‑motivated and structured in approach, with strong communication skills, able to present technical information to management and support the development of apprentices and junior engineers
