WHAT TO EXPECT
You will be instrumental in creating a healthier, safer and more resilient workforce. Working as part of our Safety, Health and Wellbeing (SHW) team, you will provide expert clinical leadership and proactive occupational health support across a diverse and innovative business.
You will partner with leaders and colleagues to address a broad range of health-related challenges, from wellbeing and health surveillance to complex case management and workplace safety.
Supporting globally recognised operations including manufacturing, engineering, events and Jaguar TCS Racing, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on both individual wellbeing and organisational performance.
THE ROLE
Key Responsibilities
- You will act as one of the clinical leads for the SHW chapter. You will provide leadership and strategic direction to the OH teams as part of the SHW Management team. You will contribute to and ensure the implementation of our global Health & Wellbeing strategies to meet current and future business needs
- In your capacity as Occupational Health Physician, you will have clinical responsibility for:
- OH business process improvement
- Complex medical case management including fitness for task
- Health Surveillance escalations
- Preparation of medical information packs for forwarding to the Pension Scheme Medical Adviser in cases of applications for ill health early retirement
- Advice following such assessments will be provided to management and supervision and where appropriate you will liaise with an individual's own doctors and specialists
- In addition to face-to-face and telephone consultations, you will:
- Visit workplaces to assess the nature and type of work that is being undertaken to give accurate and relevant advice on fitness for work or the nature of work-related problems
- Take part in case conferences with managers and People team to agree the most appropriate courses of action
- Provide high level support to a team of OH Advisors and to occupational health physicians working for an external commercial partner (including advice on the management of cases)
- Provide support to safety and wellbeing colleagues on clinical topics
- Help in complaint case resolution

WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Skills
- Ability to maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with GMC Good Medical Practice principles
- Sound understanding of core HR processes, including absence management and capability management
- Strong commercial awareness and strategic thinking, with experience operating in a business-focused environment
- Proven ability to influence, negotiate and provide credible challenge to senior stakeholders
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access
Experience
- Sound knowledge of UK equality and diversity legislation, alongside health and safety regulations
- Strong understanding of UK employment law and its practical application
- Proven ability to manage, analyse and interpret data to support informed decision-making
- Previous experience working within a manufacturing environment would be desirable
- Experience operating within a unionised workforce setting and engaging with employee representatives
Qualifications
- Medical Degree qualification
- Diploma in Occupational Medicine (Dip Occ Med) or AFOM
- MFOM/FFOM is desirable
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and fully up to date with requirements for Revalidation with GMC as Medical Practitioner
- A full driving licence
