Product Engineering at JLR is centred on innovation and creativity. From advanced driver assistance systems to developing the future of electric propulsion, the opportunities to create exceptional experiences for the future of motoring are wide-ranging. You'll work alongside industry experts to drive product strategy, manage programs, analyse performance, and lead transformation initiatives. Exceptional careers that bring world-renowned vehicles to life start here.

At JLR, we’re redefining the future of mobility — and motion control is at the heart of that transformation. As a Project Lead within our Assisted and Automated Driving (AAD) Motion Control team, you’ll play a critical role in delivering the control systems that enable intelligent, responsive, and safe vehicle behaviour. From steering and braking to advanced motion planning, your work will directly influence how our vehicles feel and perform on the road. This is a unique opportunity to combine agile project leadership with deep technical involvement, working across disciplines to bring next-generation driving experiences to life. If you're passionate about engineering excellence, system thinking, and leading innovation at scale — this is your moment.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Take ownership of agile delivery and technical leadership in a high-impact, cross-functional engineering environment.

  • Lead the roadmap and delivery plan for your squad, ensuring alignment with programme milestones and reporting progress to stakeholders
  • Guide your team in delivering high-value system features, helping them stay focused on outcomes that drive real-world performance and innovation
  • Facilitate agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives, ensuring they are productive, inclusive, and outcome-driven
  • Define and manage the product backlog, working closely with internal teams, suppliers, and partners to remove blockers and manage risks
  • Lead the development of system architecture and requirements, ensuring compatibility with future vehicle electrical platforms
  • Generate robust technical documentation and evidence, demonstrating compliance with JLR standards and system performance targets
  • Collaborate internationally, with frequent overseas travel to support global development and integration efforts

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

Bring a blend of technical depth, leadership experience, and systems thinking to deliver complex control systems at scale.

  • Extensive experience leading large, multidisciplinary engineering projects, ideally in automotive or embedded systems environments
  • A degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Software Engineering, closely related technical discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Strong understanding of vehicle electronics and network communications, including ECUs and system integration
  • Proven track record in model-based software delivery, particularly for safety-critical systems within a structured quality framework
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and quality management processes, enabling you to lead teams through iterative, value-driven development

Creating Modern Luxury requires a modern approach to work. At JLR, hybrid working is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement providing employees more choice and flexibility around how, when and where they work. Some roles require more on-site work, but details of this can be discussed with the hiring manager during the interview stage.

We work hard to nurture a culture that is inclusive and welcoming to all. We understand candidates may require reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process. Please discuss these with your recruiter so we can accommodate your needs.

Applicants from all backgrounds are welcome. If you’re unsure that you meet the full criteria of a role – but you're interested in where it could take you – we still encourage you to apply. We believe in people's ability to grow and develop within their role – it’s what makes living the exceptional with soul possible.
