Join JLR as a Technical Specialist - Structural Durability, CAE & Simulation!

Are you ready to make a significant impact in the world of automotive engineering? At JLR, we are seeking a highly skilled Technical Specialist to lead the charge in advancing our Structural Durability, CAE & Simulation. This role is crucial to our mission of Building Customer Trust through the durability of our body-in-white (BIW) structures.

As a Technical Specialist, you will work closely with the Structural Integration & Analysis (SI&A) Durability Chapter Lead and other key stakeholders. Your expertise will be instrumental in developing and delivering strategies that enhance our CAE tools and processes, ensuring the continued success and performance of JLR BIW structures.

You will be at the forefront of innovation, driving the successful development and deployment of new CAE tools and processes within the on-cycle Durability team. Additionally, you will support the introduction of new physical technologies, such as mega castings, and ensure that BIW Durability requirements are met with appropriate CAE detection methods.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Develop and align the SI&A off-cycle Durability strategy with key stakeholders
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritise and implement new CAE technologies and processes
  • Create and deliver new CAE methods to predict body structure behaviour, using an Agile approach
  • Ensure physical testing supports CAE development and correlation
  • Support the introduction of new physical technologies by developing appropriate CAE digital twins
  • Resolve complex issues in vehicle programmes and provide technical mentorship to the CAE community
  • Foster the personal development of the off-cycle Durability team

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • Technical Expertise in Automotive Body Structures Durability: Extensive knowledge in the durability of automotive body structures (or similar), including strength and fatigue, parent materials, and joining methods. Proficient in simulation using finite element and other numerical methods, ideally gained in an automotive OEM or Tier 1 supplier
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent ability to conduct complex research into new tools and processes, providing innovative solutions
  • R&D Management: Proven ability to prioritise and manage complex R&D activities, applying these skills to challenging projects using an Agile approach
  • Automotive Design Development: Solid experience in automotive (or similar industrial) design development processes, ensuring high standards and efficiency
  • Team Management: Previous experience managing a small, highly technical team, fostering collaboration and technical growth
