WHAT TO EXPECT:

 

This is a great opportunity to join a newish but very important part of the business. You will need to have a strong telematics background and ideally working as a Systems Engineer/Software Architect within the automotive industry and be able to work with multiple stakeholders. This role will also give you the chance to travel all over the world with your job which for some will be an amazing opportunity. As part of the Connected Modules Group, and part of a squad focussing on the application development of the next Telematics and Connectivity modules, the engineer will own and control the updates to the System Requirement Document and have a lead role for the application considered.

 

In this role, no two tasks are the same. With lots of projects and relationships to build with people across the business and beyond, it’s a challenge that will help your career grow within an iconic organisation. Here’s what to expect:

•    Authoring System Design and System & Sub-system Specifications for Telematics.
•    Reviewing technical specifications and implement relevant technical standards for Telematics systems and vehicle network communications. 
•    Manage Software Architecture design and solving system level design problems.
•    Prepare documentation and presentation material to effectively communicate technical subject matter to senior management.
•    Define deliverables / timing & manage them through to completion.
•    For Legal Applications (such as Emergency Call, China New Energy Vehicle, Emergency Warning Services), obtain the regulation & implementing standards, proceed to requirement elicitation, develop JLR specific requirements. Once the System is ready, lead the Certification efforts (lab identification, technical documentation preparation, potential development of tools to support the testing required in the lab) until obtention of the final certificate proving compliance to the regulation


WHAT YOU'LL NEED

 

In addition to your drive for excellence, you’ll bring certain skills, qualifications and experience, including:
•    Relevant experience of system definition, system architecture development, requirements specification, design/performance modelling, systems integration, system assessment and acceptance. 
•    Broad understanding of a range of different vehicle electrical systems and architectures.
•    Good verbal and written communications.
•    Analytical and problem-solving skills.
•    Track record as an effective team player with strong interpersonal skills.
•    Relevant experience of automotive project management, ideally leading a project including managing a supplier (from specification cascade to delivery management to integration and validation).
