You will be taking a leading role in shaping how Data Protection & privacy is embedded across the organisation. This is a senior, visible position working with a wide range of stakeholders across the business, helping to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical, scalable outcomes that work for both the business and its customers.
As part of the Data Protection and Privacy Compliance team, you will be instrumental in leading and maturing JLR’s Group‑wide privacy compliance programme. The role focuses on driving a robust privacy framework, supporting risk assessments, guiding decision‑making, and ensuring privacy is considered throughout the full data lifecycle. You will partner closely with senior leaders to provide clear, pragmatic advice that enables compliant commercial delivery.

You will help foster a strong culture of privacy awareness and accountability across JLR, ensuring personal data is used responsibly, confidently and in line with both legal and ethical expectations.
WHAT TO EXPECT
In this role, you’ll play a key part in delivering high-quality outcomes and supporting the wider team through a range of responsibilities, including –
- Steering the Group‑wide privacy compliance programme, including driving change initiatives and continuous improvement across the business
- Supporting the Group Director of Privacy and Data Protection with privacy‑related guidance, advice and the management of data protection incidents
- Drafting, embedding and maintaining corporate policies, procedures and guidance governing JLR’s use of personal data
- Establishing and coordinating the global network of market and functional privacy leads,
- Driving the completion of privacy impact assessments across relevant data processing activities, and developing strong Compliance by Design frameworks
- Overseeing the maintenance of data flows, registers and records covering all systems, databases and repositories processing personal data, including third‑party operated services
- Working with IT, Purchasing and key stakeholders to implement robust supplier due diligence, contractual controls, auditing processes, and to deliver clear privacy guidance, training and communications to employees
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
To thrive in this role, you’ll bring a solid background, relevant certifications, and the following key skills –
- Demonstrable expertise as a data protection compliance specialist or regulatory lawyer, with strong working knowledge of UK & European data protection legislation, Global experience and cross‑border privacy laws, including ePrivacy Directive
- Proven ability to apply privacy compliance in practice, including leading activities such as privacy impact assessments, handling data subject rights requests, employee monitoring considerations, vendor and third‑party risk management, and data breach response
- Hold, or be working towards, relevant professional qualifications such as IAPP (CIPM and/or CIPP), ISEB, or equivalent recognised credentials in data protection and privacy
- Experience operating within risk assurance, controls and change management environments, with the ability to assess risk and support the implementation of effective compliance frameworks
- Strong technical understanding of IT and information security, including awareness of relevant security standards and how they underpin data protection compliance
- Confidence working with complex stakeholder groups, providing clear, pragmatic compliance advice that supports business outcomes
- Exposure to engineering and/or telecommunications environments would be advantageous, though not essential
