JOB TITLE:  Software Engineer In Test

SALARY:  £50,000 - £53,000

LOCATION: Manchester



This role provides a unique opportunity to define, support and grow an entirely new software quality capability within our Digital Delivery Team. In the Manchester Digital Delivery Centre you will be working alongside the best engineers in the world. 




You'll be facilitating testing and quality using DevOps practices and principles working in a hands-on manner to ensure the continuous delivery of quality software. With the movement towards integration and automation, you will focus on testability, robustness, and performance for exciting new projects. We are looking for those with mobile software experience having worked with IOS or Android. 


You'll form an essential part of a collaborative, iterative and agile process within a multi-disciplined team helping deliver best in class digital solutions. This role provides a unique opportunity to define, support and grow an entirely new software quality capability within our Digital Delivery Team.


Reporting directly to the Lead DevOps Engineer, you will be a valued member of the Digital Delivery Centre Team, contributing to the strategic direction of the technology and solutions delivered. You will be working on new and exciting infotainment application development directly going into production vehicles.




You’ll need experience in defining automated test environments forming part of the continuous integration pipeline for mobile IOS and Android applications as well as having an understanding of Software Quality tools/frameworks (SonarQube, Robot FW, Appium). A deep knowledge of the SDLC is preferable as are collaborative skills - being open to pair programming and working closely with Developers, Designers and DevOps Engineers in cross-functional teams.


Scripting language or coding experience (including bash and one other language) is a plus but you’ll need an understanding of test and behaviour driven development and a passion for Software Quality and strong problem-solving skills. You’ll need an understanding of Configuration Management tooling (Ansible, Chef, Puppet etc.) and exposure to Gherkin syntax, Node JS/ Java programming/ React /React Native experience.


We’re looking for those with experience of running software in production and experience building, customising, deploying, and managing the environment/ test automation frameworks. It will be beneficial if you have experience verifying products scalability, reliability, consistency, and performance, and a practical understanding of Cloud Native principles and techniques such as Microservices, Containers, Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery and Infrastructure-as-code.
