THE OPPORTUNITY
Process Engineering (ME) in BIW is responsible for sourcing, commissioning and optimizing the BIW and facilities and technology. This includes joining technologies, adhesive application, dimensional control etc. A high degree of inter-departmental interaction is expected, specifically in areas that have a direct relationship to the deliverables of the department. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the build of current models, collecting dimensional, quality performance and joining data, implementing adjustments based on various reports and supporting problem solving on the BIW shop floor.
WHAT TO EXPECT
- Process supporting documentation (PFMEA, Control Plan, Visual Management) and all other required to ensure successful handover to Plant.
- Identify opportunities and pro-actively drive engineering continuous improvement to emerging issues identified through audit.
- Monitoring the quality metrics to recognise and address dimensional errors and capability issues
- Support and drive the build quality performance.
- Commission facilities and processes to ensure dimensional and cosmetic results meet JLR standards.
- Support multi-disciplinary teams in pursuit of complex technical solutions.
- Support technical decision-making.
- Support the Process teams with production scheduling and cost reduction activities.
- Analysis for manpower & capacity planning. Line balancing, efficiency and utilisation improvement.
- Maximise equipment usage for achievement of project Capital Investment target and volume aspirations.
- Develop and implement cost-effective technical solutions.
- Support Change management for the assigned commodity.
- Support resolution of Process issues.
- Design process to meet HSE & Ergonomics requirements.
- Develop layout to accommodate production equipment.
- Manage in connection with their job as may be requested
WHAT YOU´LL NEED
- Relevant previous experience of Process / Engineering processes, tools and techniques including consistent delivery of productivity targets in Process
- Previous experience of supervising a multi-skilled team in Process
- Experience in the application of a logical approach to Problem Solving
- Experience and working knowledge of Health and Safety Audits and ergonomics including risk assessments
- Experience of vehicle body assembly process development, joining technologies and body assembly equipment including tooling, automation and robotics.
- Computer literacy – Microsoft and CAD
- Understanding of part assembly and system interaction which involves tolerances, variability, and methods of location and measurement
- Experience in metrology and Process engineering
- Ability to work outside of traditional working hours if required
