THE OPPORTUNITY
This is a succinct overview of the role
This role will provide engineering and technical support to design, develop and implement manufacturing production processes to enable successful launch of new products, ensuring feasibility of all designs to suit manufacturing build requirements, design for assembly and compliance with the bill of process. This includes the creation of process, delivery of tools, quality, data analysis and reporting of major issues, deployment of failure mode avoidance tools, support of cross-functional teams in the resolution of those issues on project and the tracking of resolution through to completion.
This role will be part of a team of engineers, the role requires collaboration across functions to deliver processes that meet out basic minute value and quality targets. It is also important for us to share best practice across the platforms and between manufacturing plants to ensure we employ the best processes available wherever possible.
WHAT TO EXPECT
• Responsible for whole PT/EC process within application, documentation and materials..
• Manage all materials within PT/EC and maintain their documentation (CoA, TDS, MSDS, etc.).
• Set parameters for applications.
• Document and evaluate line trials.
• Maintain documentation including Work Instructions, Control Plans, Reaction Plans, and FMEAs.
• Support production and respond promptly to PT/EC issues.
• Maintain, implement and update Work Instructions, PFMEA, Control Plan, Reaction Plans and validate processes.
• Apply Lean Manufacturing principles, Internal Production System (IPS) standards, and MQOS principles.
• Attend meetings at all required levels.
•Update and implement written processes and work instructions related to PT/EC and PT/EC laboratory operations.
• Demonstrate process knowledge of equipment and operations, manage and escalate technical defects as necessary.
• Establish relationships with subcontractor representatives, track and control materials supplied by subcontractors.
• Coordinate and build relationships with key JLR representatives to identify and resolve process issues.
• Regular meetings with PT/EC process suppliers
• Record and implement corrective actions effectively.
• Attend daily meetings and participate in quality audits.
• Support the introduction of new models, materials, and manage changes within PT/EC.
• Planning weekend and shutdown cleaning activities related to the PT/EC process
• Perform additional tasks as directed by the immediate supervisor related to this position.
• Support development and maintenance of control plans and associated paperwork within process in Pre-treatment, E-coat process
• Support development, successful implementation and ongoing compliance / improvement of MQOS
• Responsible for all process documentation
• Provide technical and process support to manufacturing
• Implement and maintain key process measurements with calibrated tools.
• Support line trials and permanent process changes
• E-coat upgrade process and documentation.
• Interact closely with the suppliers of Pretreatment chemical material, E-coat material, incoming quality improvements
• Support quality and environmental leader with vehicle specific quality issues.
• Drive process, facility and quality improvement initiative and projects.
• Management all chemical product within area including all documents needed.
• Support for internal and external plant audit and assessment as required.
WHAT YOU´LL NEED
• 3+ years experience in paint application technology
• have the ability to visualise and explain the current status, issues and solution
• self-starter with the confidence and ability to work on own initiative
• Problem-solving skills and logical approach.
• Practical understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, IPS standards, and MQOS.
• Ability to resolve technical and application issues and escalate them effectively.
• Good communication skills for coordinating with subcontractors and key stakeholders.
• Capability to support production and respond promptly to PT-EC line and PT-EC laboratory issues.
Desirable:
• Good knowledge of Pretreatment process and EC process
• Ability to make decisions and work under pressure
• Experience with Durr technology
• Experience with laboratory analyses
• Experience with laboratory measuring instruments
• Knowledge of EcoEMOS
