OPPORTUNITY
Manufacturing Engineering (ME) in Body in White (BIW) is responsible for sourcing, commissioning and optimizing the BIW facilities and technology. This includes joining technologies, adhesive application, dimensional control etc. A high degree of inter-departmental interaction is expected, specifically in areas that have a direct relationship to the deliverables of the department.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the build of current models, collecting dimensional, quality performance and joining data, implementing adjustments based on various reports and supporting problem solving on the BIW shop floor.
WHAT TO EXPECT
- Safety (zero safety occurrence within the team and its supplier(s), 5S, safety walks).
- Timing compliance (development, manufacturing, installation, commissioning and launch).
- Cost compliance and efficiency (within established budget, operating under the company’s directives).
- JLR Quality targets compliance (Dimensional, Body Product Audit, Body Hole Size, Water Ingress).
- Process creation & Feasibility assurance, including safety & ergonomics.
- Process design parameters compliance (Technical Availability & Cycle Time).
- Support and drive the build quality performance.
- Monitoring the quality metrics to recognize and address dimensional, joining, OPR errors, FTT, RFT.
- Cross functional problem solving.
- Suggest and implement ICA- interim containment actions.
- Product & Process Audit.
- Product & Facility Concerns tracking & resolution.
WHAT YOU´LL NEED
- Ability to communicate in English (speaking, reading, writing) with native an non-native English speakers.
- Relevant previous experience of Manufacturing / Engineering processes, tools and techniques.
- Experience of vehicle body assembly process development, including tooling, automation and robotics.
- Basic understanding of joining technologies and its applications.
- Dimensional control and geometric setup / fitment of Closures and Cladding assemblies to bodyshell
- Measurement report analysis and correlation of deviations within manufacturing processes and problem-solving management.
- Strong understanding of dimensional engineering principles, tolerance management, stack-up analysis and understanding of GD&T.
- Focus on fit & finish and assembly interfaces within BIW / T&F.
- Ability to interpret 3D data, measurement reports and capability studies.
- Competence in identifying root causes of geometric issues and defining corrective actions.
- Experience in the application of a logical approach to Problem Solving.
- Experience and working knowledge of Health and Safety Audits and ergonomics including risk assessments.
- Proficiency with basic engineering softwares (AutoCAD and .dwg visualisers, CATIA and other 3D visualisers).
- Proficiency with creation and update of PFMEAs, Control Plans, Reaction Plans, Visual Management.
