OPPORTUNITY
The Supplier Technical Assistance (STA) team is responsible for supplier quality throughout our vehicle portfolio, interacting with every part that goes into our vehicles, ensuring we deliver excellence. As a graduate you’ll have the opportunity to be involved in almost every aspect of one of our vehicles’ life cycle.
Programme:
Twenty-two months split into four placements, which are: Manufacturing, STA SPQ, STA Senior Engineer, STA New Model Launch/Supplier Management. First 6-9 months working on 2 shifts.
Part of the program will be an orientation program in the UK, where there will be an opportunity to meet colleagues from all over the world included in the same program. During the orientation program, there will be an opportunity to get to know and try out JLR products and get to know more about our company
After the orientation, in addition to your work at STA, you will continue in an online study (in English) that will prepare you for your career growth at JLR
Part of this development program is also participation and cooperation with a top educational institution in the UK. It is a 2-day program in which you will participate a total of 4 times (approx. 1 time per quarter).
Upon completion of the scheme you will have a possibility join the STA team as an engineer.
RESPONSIBILITIES
There are many stakeholders including our suppliers who collaborate to create our products, and you’ll be able to gain exposure to many of these through structured placements. During your placements, you’ll have the opportunity to gain a wide variety of experiences, including:
• Managing the quality, development and implementation of new and existing components from our supply base.
• Developing your problem-solving skills through part quality concerns, from new vehicle introduction through to warranty support on our vehicles.
• Assessing of processes and design feasibility to suit manufacturing requirements.
• Analysing timing plans for component and facility delivery, as part of cross-functional teams.
• Having genuine responsibility in supporting supplier selection and management.
• Applying Lean Manufacturing and Design principles in suppliers’ facilities.
• Determining process capability of equipment, including Dimensional Management applications.
• Manufacturing assessments and diagnostics of new and existing supplier manufacturing facilities, including within European locations.
• Building and maintaining relationships with key contacts within the supply base and the Jaguar Land Rover community.
CANDIDATE
Excellence runs throughout our entire business. We expect you to be the same. You should be currently studying for, or have achieved, a degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Manufacturing, any STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths).
You’ll be a person who doesn’t shy away and grasps opportunity firmly with both hands, and can demonstrate leadership experience and responsibility in managing projects, this will make you the perfect fit. If you have technical experience or exposure to the engineering industry through a past placement, or an ongoing interest in the automotive industry, then this may also support your application.
We are looking for graduates with strong communication skills, who can present confidently whilst being eager to learn. Organisation, time-keeping and self-motivation are also attributes you must possess, and we’ll also need you to have a full driving license for commuting between sites and suppliers.
