WHAT TO EXPECT

 

The main purpose of this role is to be responsible for the people that deliver the integrated sub systems elements, which may be physical components, a set of related components or software into vehicle programmes. Responsible for achieving Centre of Competence deliverables in specific programmes, the individual will also ensure that content is delivered in accordance with our defined processes and procedures. Additionally, responsible for conducting regular 1:1’s, managing individuals’ performance, identify and address training needs, ensure team members are aligned to JLR best practices. Helping to define and improve processes and procedures as part of the engineering community of practice.

 

  • Set and track individuals objectives based of project goals.
  • Manage individual’s performance linked to individual and team goals.
  • Identify and address training needs to improve soft and technical skills.
  • Address issues raised by the team members, escalating whenever required.
  • Identify underperformance situations and provide support to revert issues.
  • Encourage ownership, autonomy, team collaboration and knowledge sharing as key values to be addressed by all team members.

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

You will need to have previous line management experience with at least 5 direct reports (3+ Years). Strong people management skills, with a passion for coaching/mentoring people and helping them to grow as individuals and deliver their best to JLR, team and themselves every day. Assisting with internal communication to improve transparency and identify and manage risks, create resource contingency plans.

 

Essential:

  • Team player, software programmes are often very complex and require extra ordinary effort;
  • Previous experience working/supporting all phases of Software Development Life Cycle of delivering technical products through a team;
  • Excellent communication and documentation skillsets;
  • Encourage teams to proactively identify opportunities for software development life-cycle / process improvements and organizational efficiency;
  • Proven ability to manage senior stakeholders and communicate at all levels ;

 

Desirable:

  • Experience of the automotive or manufacturing industry;
  • Experience of building and managing multiple internal and external relationships in complex stakeholder environments;
  • Experience leading teams working remotely;
  • Previous experience as a software engineer utilising C or C++
