WHAT TO EXPECT

Jaguar Land Rover has an opportunity for a high calibre and experienced manufacturing engineer to join our Manufacturing Business Office. The Global Capacity Planning team develops judicious plans to assist all future vehicle & power pack developments for the complete range Jaguar Land Rover vehicles. You will be responsible for developing manufacturing responses to future capacity & planning projects whilst ensuring adherence Manufacturing strategy & global footprint. You will have to engage & liaise with the whole manufacturing organisation and assisting functions and include the wider business enterprise as appropriate for study feasibility.

You will be a key part of the global capacity planning team, working closely with industrial strategy, vertical integration and site strategy teams.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • You will utilise your knowledge to lead and co-ordinate projects & programmes to deliver the safety, quality, delivery and cost goals in the strategy phase before ensuring a robust handover.
  • Assist alignment of the Manufacturing strategy to the key principles within the enterprise
  • Co-ordinate inputs into the development of the future global footprint
  • Develop the capacity planning models to assist the wider enterprise business -creating investigation studies for volume uplifts, capacity statements for all plants, assist TU inc. pay negs
  • Lead cross functional manufacturing team to complete ‘what if studies’ to assist the wider corporate strategy team
  • Establish manufacturing program definition including detailed costing of alternative strategies
  • Create the input for pre-KO studies on a global footprint
  • Develop and update the manufacturing Book of Knowledge
  • Manage manufacturing End of Life strategy studies & runout projects
  • Author & provide assist to others in the creation & annual review of departmental documents & processes
  • Ensure adherence to company and departmental operating processes and policies
  • Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested from time to time

 

WHAT YOU'll NEED

 

Essential:

  • Experience of judicious planning and project implementation
  • Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills
  • Project management experience
  • Fastidious attention to detail
  • Good communication and negotiation skills at all organisational levels
  • The ability to work well with others and lead a team who do not necessarily report to you
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office Applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Project)
  • Significant earlier experience of working in a manufacturing or automotive environment 
  • Educated to Degree level in Manufacturing Systems or a similar engineering discipline

 

Desirable:

  • Logical and analytical thinking with creative problem-solving ability
  • Experience of process improvement and working in a lead project role
  • Knowledge and experience of PCDS (or similar) and LQOS deliverables and timing
