As the Design for Logistics Lead, you will be responsible for integrating Intra-Logistics considerations into product and production facility design, ensuring that logistics principles and standards are prioritized from the outset, improving efficiency, reducing costs, and optimizing operations.


As a team with global responsibilities, we support an element of hybrid working; however, travel to any JLR site, UK or overseas, will be required.


WHAT TO EXPECT


You will lead efforts to embed logistics into the broader operational frameworks, ensuring efficiency and resilience in an increasingly complex landscape. 


In addition, you will also support Strategic Projects for new and existing facilities, co-ordinating the Intra-Logistics impact assessments ensuring alignment with stakeholders and adjacent departments and managing submissions into the vehicle/unit programme team at each gateway.


•    Collaborate with the JLR Learning Academy to develop training content for Logistics Fundamentals that incorporate Design for Logistics principles, co-ordinating the roll-out of appropriate content to key functions
•    Work closely with Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Product Engineering teams to embed logistics-focused thinking into production design, incorporating Design for Logistics principles to minimise cost / space impact
•    Engage Programme and GME technology teams to drive efficient logistics solutions during creation of the manufacturing strategy
•    Leverage automation, digital tools, and data analytics to improve logistics planning and execution within production environments
•    Prepare impact assessments and submissions for programme studies from <pre-KO> to <PSC> as requested by the Industrial Operations Strategy (IOS) and Industrial Operations Programme Delivery (IOPD) team
•    Define/update strategy and costs for OPEX (People, MHE) and CAPEX (Equipment, Infrastructure, Systems) providing business case justifications for spend including automation and technology driven solutions

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

•    Experience of planning efficient material flows within a dynamic Production Facility 
•    Training & Facilitation Skills: Capable of developing engaging and effective training program technical content
•    Capable of promoting the strategic importance of logistics and emerging technologies alongside increased complexity in the supply chain, driving change and optimizing end-to-end (E2E) processes
•    Cross-Functional Collaboration: Adept at working with diverse teams to integrate Intra-logistics into production facility planning
●    Data-Driven Decisions: Skilled in analytics and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate logistics principles into practical applications
●    Credibility within the programme/project environment and ability to influence others
●    Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage cross-functional teams and drive change
