WHAT TO EXPECT
Based in Solihull, the Electrical Launch and PVT dept are responsible for delivering new models and model year programs on behalf of the Electrical Engineering dept (DPP) and also delivering the targets set for business by Engineering Quality. Contributing to the drive to achieve world class performance levels. The team operate in an exciting & dynamic environment providing the key interface between the Core DPP Engineering Team and Manufacturing.
The team have transitioned to an Agile methodology and the successful candidate would be expected to adapt to this new way of working. You will be part of the team working on the introduction of new model programs and in cycle model year updates into Solihull,The team deliver the model year programs for all builds conducted in the plant through to Launch team exit, The team then support the programs through into continuous production.
As a Launch and PVT engineer you will be involved with investigation of RFT / FTT issues on the vehicles at all divert points, through all plant passed prebuilds and into continuous production.
As part of the Post Job 1 activities, you will also be required to analyse internal & external customer data e.g IQM and FMS, to identify & deliver key projects delivering both internal and external quality improvements.
The ability to take CAN / FlexRay logs & use of Digibuck would be a distinct advantage. When necessary, the role will require mobility across all JLR sites and occasional travel to our supply partners.
In your role, you will:
- Utilise problem solving tools to deliver robust countermeasures.
- Investigate build related issues.
- Maintain control of the AIM’s and JIRA tickets ensuring timely updates are made.
- Analysis of internal and external data, including warranty data, Roadside Assist data, FMS, EPQR’s, VFDB, Customer Surveys, FLAGS & Qbay.
- Support presentations as required to forums such as ETIQ, Nerve Centre, FiFi, as well as LMM & LRR Gateway reviews.
- You will support Agile ceremonies with the team and wider program teams.
- Ensure status for projects is accurately maintained and updated for example in IQM / AIMS.
- Ensure that forward model AIMs are raised for design embedded issues or where running change is not a feasible option.
- Support Running Change introduction (including line trials) within the plant.
What you will need
- The ability to manage complex technical issues is essential to balance the often-conflicting needs of the business, within project timing constraints.
- Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems – essential.
- Capable of working in a reactive environment – essential.
- Familiar with tools and techniques to ensure robust problem resolution – essential.
- Knowledge / ability to use Data Logging (VehicleSpy, CANalyser) – desirable.
- Knowledge of Digibuck & CAD – desirable.
- Previous experience of vehicle launch or PVT – desirable.
- Previous knowledge in WERS, AIMS. – desirable.
- An individual with the ability to prioritise their own workload and that of others.
- A good communicator with the ability to communicate complex ideas which can be tailored to the audience.
- To be successful in this role, you'll be familiar with 8D problem-solving process as well as data analysis. Finally, you'll require a good level of computer literacy and a full UK driving licence.
