WHAT TO EXPECT


The Reliability and Maintainability ( R & M ) Engineer will work as part of the Global Manufacturing Engineering (GME) Team. 


Within the Sustainability vision for the business, Reliability and Maintainability is an important factor where Asset Management is key to the design and desired output for operational performance to create benchmark levels of quality, on-time and efficiency. 


This role shall drive the importance of using reliability techniques to discover and remove potential failures early in the design cycle through to the end of life for the item. It is the combination of reliability and maintainability which dictates the proportion of time that any item is available for use or, for that matter, is operating in a safe state, delivering a quality output.


Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities


- Knowledge of BSI BS 5760 Reliability Principles
- Oversee Program Launch R+M activities with the Jaguar Land Rover GME Project Launch R+M Contact
 - Manage R+M input into New Programmes with Introduction by which R&M shall be incorporated into the acquisition/install/production process is embodied in the following points: 

 

  • Whole Life Cycle Costs – ‘Cost of Ownership’
  • Desired and Actual performance figures of individual and integrated equipment
  • Continuous improvement of recovery from machinery breakdown

 

- Maintaining the departments focus on Lessons Learnt and improving the ways to act on these points

- Manage inputs into Project and Commodity RFQs within sourcing procedure - Continual Improvement in Best practice in R+M principles 
- Become the teams `expert` in `9 panel` Collation and macro development 
- Collate performance data and calculate true Technical Availability figures for each Commodity and act up on low performing TA equipment against the DES required targets.
 - The understanding of OPR and OEE and how MTBF and MTTR effects a facilities output - Assist in facility Performance Buy Off Periods and the collation of the pass / fail data
 - Manage the R+M Staged Buy Off on Equipment to ensure the correct level of input at all stages in design 
- Collate and manage new project FRACAS / 8D reports for the Group, Identifying key areas of concern for input into new Projects
 - Developing and Maintain SIPOC and DRIM Matrices - Ensure adherence to project deliverables (PCDS etc)
 - Attend programme meetings and escalate where applicable

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED 


Knowledge, Skills and Experience


Educated to HNC level in a Technical Field with a preference to Time served engineering apprenticeship or extensive practical experience in a Maintenance Background. 
Knowledge of R+M process Implementation in an Automotive environment would be preferred. 
Microsoft Excel experience to manage large inputs of data.
Knowledge of BSI BS 5760 Implementation in an Automotive environment would be preferred
