This role will work as part of the maintenance site services team at Solihull and is responsible carrying out preventative and corrective tasks on mechanical plant and equipment. Across the Solihull estate.
WHAT TO EXPECT
A proactive and results‑driven leader focused on optimising plant performance, strengthening maintenance practices, and driving continuous improvement across all operational areas.
- Monitor plant, equipment, and process operations to ensure correct performance, defining and implementing strategies that deliver measurable improvement.
- Track product quality and output data, using insights to formulate targeted Continuous Improvement actions.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives while introducing enhanced maintenance methods.
- Ensure full compliance with all health & safety documentation and PPE requirements.
- Support the TPM autonomous maintenance programme to build capability and ownership.
- Adapt to operational needs by changing shifts, working overtime, or adjusting start times at short notice.
- Apply lean manufacturing techniques and best‑practice working methods to optimise efficiency.
- Coach and lead group leaders to achieve departmental objectives and performance targets.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
A skilled mechanical technician with broad experience in maintenance, diagnostics, and repair across complex plant, equipment, and building services systems.
- Strong experience in mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance across a wide range of industrial equipment.
- Solid knowledge of reciprocating and screw compressors, including fault‑finding and routine servicing.
- Competent in working with gearboxes, chain drives, hydraulics, pneumatics, and site‑wide speed doors.
- Working knowledge of mechanical plant engineering and building services, including heating and ventilation systems.
- Good understanding of QPS, WES, standardised work processes, and the TEM maintenance system.
- Knowledge of company safety procedures, including COSHH and ergonomics requirements.
- Awareness of Building Management Systems, with developing capability that supports wider site operations.
