We are searching for a Lead Battery Modelling Engineer to expand our Advanced Cell Engineering department. The purpose of the role is the design, development, analysis and delivery of the next-generation traction battery systems by leading analysis of vehicle data and customer usage cases to model lifetime prediction

 

Using state-of-the-art facilities, you’ll provide the power behind our vehicles working in our Powertrain Engineering team. You'll find the ideal balance between performance and sustainability while responding to the environmental issues that shape our industry.

 

The Advanced function contributes to the development of new technologies and features up to ‘Concept Ready’ where it is then handed over to the mainstream Engineering functions. This role will involve collaborative research with key leading UK universities and external partners. Additionally, the role will support the electrification teams in the delivery of new electric vehicle programmes.

 

As a Lead Battery Modelling Engineer, you will lead analysis of vehicle data and customer usage cases to model lifetime prediction and work with the Advanced Cell team to build models from empirical test data. Furthermore, you will lead collaboration with partners, academia and Subject Matter Experts to develop predictive modelling techniques based on chemistry and format.  

 

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

You will have extensive experience in the cell, module and pack modelling using Matlab or equivalent and a comprehensive understanding of cell ageing factors and modelling methods. You will need experience in interpreting user case data to develop a lifetime usage profile but also working with Universities and Research partners to deliver a project. 

 

You will also possess:

  • PhD in a relevant subject 
  • Previous experience in a Research role in engineering or automotive environment
  • Experience in delivering projects within engineering teams
