JOB TITLE: Critical Concerns Senior Engineer Electric Vehicles and ADAS
SALARY: £38,900 - £50,600 (DOE)
POSTING END DATE: 30/06/2022
LOCATION: Warwickshire

We’re re-examining our vehicles and what a vehicle means in the emerging world of automation, connectedness, electrification and the shared economy. New ideas, new technology, and new approaches to mobility are our business. Join a team of next generation thinkers.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The Critical Concerns Team reports to the Product Integrity Director who in turn reports the Product Engineering Director. The team is responsible for identifying issues related to JLR products where there may be an unreasonable risk to safety or compliance. This covers vehicles in use with customers, within the retail network, within vehicle distribution and within manufacturing plants These issues are identified as Critical Concerns and the responsible Critical Concerns Senior Engineer leads the investigation with the person most knowledgeable within JLR.

This specific role is to support critical issue identification, safety or compliance issues in the hands of the customer and progression of issues to the Product Safety and Compliance Committee

This is against the backdrop of increasing legislative pressure due to class actions and equivalent legislation, Eg. Right of Collective Redress in global markets. It should be noted that with the move to L3 Autonomy JLR will be liable for the safe use of the vehicle vs the traditional role of the driver being responsible at all times. It is imperative that this role both reviews the cases from our current driver aid systems and ensures appropriate functionality is in place within future designs to enable detailed and precise legal defences for allegations against JLR.

EV vehicles are generating high profile coverage for error states relating to EV systems (Traction Battery Fires) and Autonomous vehicle real world crashes
