What to expect


As the electrical vehicle architecture lead engineer for Ethernet within the platform services group, you will be taking on a role that is critical for delivering the Electrical Vehicle Architecture (EVA) across multiple present & future model years for Jaguar Land Rover.


Within the platform services group you will have the opportunity to work in an agile squad, that establishes, develops & qualifies new vehicle network technologies to be utilised throughout JLR.


Within the squad you will be responsible for qualifying Ethernet based network technologies; authoring, developing & owning the physical channel & Data Link Layer (DLL) requirements for Ethernet. As well as supporting the teams to design in the platform network capability for across all the applications.



Key Performance Indicators

  • Ethernet technology project delivery & Integration driven to appropriate maturity by EVA Continuum unit program gateways to support the squads to robustly define the hardware & software platform requirements. 

  • All new Ethernet technologies & applications both qualified & validated in accordance with the EVA North Star principles & design rules.

  • Network Physical & DLL Requirements & test cases authored, cascaded, validated & managed in the agreed JLR tools

  • Aligned to agile ways of working & JLR Creators code 



Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Applications across the vehicle of Ethernet physical channel & DLL requirements

  • Identifying, documenting, & validating the capability & constraints of the network technology & communicating these across the business.

  • Leading all the physical automotive Ethernet qualification activities, including commercial activities

  • Authoring & maintaining the Ethernet physical channel & DLL Requirements/Test Cases in design tools such as Dassault requirements manager (TRM) & Atlassian Jira

  • Coordinating with the ECU owners on application & validation of the established requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Experience


  • Understanding of Ethernet network technologies – system, software, hardware and channel requirements

  • Understanding of automotive Ethernet & associated interface communication protocols & physical layer requirements.

  • Ability to manage a large number of internal & external stakeholders & help them to work collaboratively.

  • Proven ability to deliver large complex electrical system design or network application projects on time with high quality.

  • A mind for improvement of process & a drive to understand & overcome challenges.


  • An ability to solve complex problems & communicate the solution to the wider business.

  • An excellent level of ability to structure, analyse & interpret data

  • Background in network or component design

  • Proven ability to make financial forecasts for new technology developments & manage associated budgetary spend.

  • Understanding of wider vehicle networks & associated interface communication protocols & physical layer requirements.

  • A high level of IT literacy & desire to continue to learn new data tools & skills.  

  • A proven track record of translating business direction & needs into prioritised requirements.
