WHAT TO EXPECT

 

The main purpose of this role is to be the Senior Software Engineer responsible for delivering software solutions for development tools and infrastructure. Responsibilities include taking feature requests and refining into technical requirements and designs.

 

In addition, implementing complex solutions in software and verification to ensure the solution meets the features requests. As a Senior Engineer technical leadership and mentoring of other developers is required to build a high capability team.

 

In this role, you will be measured against KPIs such as Sprint Velocity, Business Value Increment per Sprint, Technical Debt Baklog and Progress to 'North Star' for Software Development Process within Jaguar Land Rover.

 

YOU WILL NEED

 

To be a successful candidate, you will be expected to design off-board software tooling to enable the software teams to produce high quality products efficiently and to high quality, design cloud-based infrastructure to provide stable and scalable platforms for development tools and you will need to be able to refining and converting backlog stories and into tasks and requirements that the team can implement.

 

You will be expected to be providing guidance and technical growth for the team in terms of supporting junior / early career team members via coaching, review and pair programming, as well as enabling effective Agile planning through review and refinement with the Scrum Master and Product Owner to identify and estimate stories, tasks and the value of technical debt.

 

You should work across squads with software architects to promote aligned technology roadmap for tools development and undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

 

Essential:

 

  • Track record of successful technical delivery of complex software projects through the use of Agile techniques
  • Experience in a wide range of design patterns and implementation languages
  • Proven ability to technically lead high performing software development teams
  • Experience in working with multiple cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, GCP) using infrastructure as code to produce scalable solutions
  • High level of experience and skills in Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) within an automotive environment
  • Experience in delivering embedded software solutions in an automotive environment
  • Ability to communicate with excellence to business stakeholders and technical teams
  • Critically review solutions and provide technical direction and leadership to a team
  • Proven ability to commnucate complex technical issues to stakeholders at all levels

 

Desirable:

 

  • Negotiation and influencing skills
  • Knowledge of Jaguar Land Rover toolset for software development
  • Experience of building and managing multiple internal and external relationships in complex stakeholder environments
