The Process Definition and Development (PDD) team works within Manufacturing Engineering’s core engineering function and is responsible for defining and further development of new /existing manufacturing technologies and processes.


The role of process engineer for PDD will be responsible for aspects of the definition and development of the several manufacturing processes relating to the commodity of Rotor and Stator required for the in-house manufacture of eMachines. The individual will drive the development of a quality-focused, lean eMachine manufacturing processes for our early development of our electric propulsion systems for the future.


This role will be responsible for the creation, publication and maintenance of the Bill of Process (BOP) for a number of commodities sitting within the vehicle and EBD. It will also develop a Commodity Library to document our current working practices, and use this information to drive commonality and implement best practice across our plants, capture benchmarking information and input into future Commodity Strategy. The role will also support problem investigation on current vehicle lines as the ‘technical’ expert for the area of commodity ownership.


Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities


Generate and develop a number of Bill of Process (BoP) and development for complete eMachine production facilities. You will be able to demonstrate that the process sequence will meet Jaguar Landrover cost, quality, and volume requirements, Commodity Library & Commodity Strategy. PR-AIMS resolution, Current problem investigation and support Generate the specification, sourcing, integration and management of multiple pieces of production equipment covering a wide range of manufacturing processes including hairpin winding, stator & rotor assembly, magnetization, impregnation, assembly & test and automation.






  • Experience of process development of complex technology projects from conception through to Implementation.
  • Will have worked in a process engineering role within a medium to high volume eMachine component manufacture or assembly business, or worked as a mechanical engineer in a company developing and supplying manufacturing solutions to eMachine manufacturing OEMs
  • Specialist experience in at least one or more of the following processes is essential: - Magnetization and handling of rare earth magnets; hairpin bending, handling and assembly; laser welding especially in the application of hairpin joining; winding impregnation




  • Ideally educated to degree level in Manufacturing or a similar engineering discipline
  • Able to prepare and present business case to show risk vs benefits of a manufacturing/Product design solution
  • Knowledge of and involvement in the product development phase
